• 9th grade: 20 students, 10 boys and 10 girls, 10 Caucasian, 5
African American, 4 Latin American and 1 Indian American.
• Learning Competencies: Students will have a basic understanding
of Ghandi’s life and historical significance.
• The students have no learning disabilities
3. Learning Objective
• Students will identify who Mahatma Ghandi is by analyzing his life
and historical significance through videos, recordings, and
presentations by the end of the week with 100% accuracy.
4. Day by Day lesson plan
• Day one: Slideshow presentation briefly explaining British occupation
and the treatment of Indian people.
• Day Two: Class discussion on Ghandi’s life and video of an interview
• Day Three: Discussion of Ghandi’s protests. Have students get into
groups to research a way to peacefully protest.
• Day Four: Class discussion on the end of British occupation in India.
• Day Five: Students present their findings to class. Watch clip about
Ghandi’s assassination and have a discussion about Ghandi’s lasting
impact on India as well as the world.
5. Technology
• A smartboard and computer to display videos, presentations, and
audio. Inspect functionality of all pieces of technology before
hand.
