New words
 atmosphere –the envelope of
air which surrounds the earth.
 air pressure -The pressure
exerted by the atmosphere
 Gravity- the force which attract
the body towards the centre of
the earth.
 Electrons – negative charge
particle which move around the
earth.
Monsoon winds –seasonal
winds that bring rain below
from sea to land during
summer and vice versa during
winter
Thunderstorm- serve storms
accompanied by high speed
wind,lighthinig and thunder.
× cyclone- a weather
conditition with the formation
of vey low pressure system
surrounded by high wind speed
system revolving around it .
× tornado storms having very
high wind speed ,looking like a
twisted funnel formed
suddenly on land .
• Latitude it is a distance
measured from north of an
equator or south of equator to
imaginary centre line of
earth.
• longitude it is distance of
place measured east or west
or prime meridian (0)that
passes through (green which
near London) from centre of
earth
wind
The horizontal movement of air is known as wind. it is
caused by horizontal difference in atmospheric
pressure. water flows from higher to lower level air
flows from area of higher pressure to the area of
lower pressure
measurement of wind
directions
the direction of wind can be
absorbed with the help of wind
vane which is commonly known as
weather cock .
measurement of wind speed
the speed of wind is usually measured with an
instrument called anemometer .cup anemometer
are mainly used by metrological station .it consists of
3-4 metals or plastic cups on arms that spins around a
vertical pole . in nature the air around us below slowly
or hardly . these changes have great effect on our
weather pattern.
Sea breeze
Monsoon wind’s
The word monsoon has been derived from the Hindi
word “mausum”Which means season.
during summer ,the landmasses, especially in Asia
become extremely hot .this is because as the mass of
Indian subcontinent gets heated of zone of low
pressure develops over it .
 as cooler air is dense there is practically no mixing
and the movement along the front of the two air
mass is like it was a movement along solid surface .
As huge mass of air rises a vacuum like situation is
created and cooler air gushes in at high speed .this is
form of storm
Thunderstorm are severe local forms accompanied by
lighting and thunder. They occur mostly in tropical
areas .
E.G India
Thunder storm have potential to develop into a
cyclone .the huge amount of heat taken out of the
atmosphere as a result of changing water vapor into
water droplets at higher altitude .the cycle is repeated
several times leading to the whether condition is
called as cyclone.
A tornado is a violent rotating column of air extending
from a thunderstorm to the ground. They can destroy
large buildings, uproot trees and hurl vehicles
hundreds of yards. They can also drive straw into
trees. Damage paths can be in excess of one mile
wide to 50 miles long. In an average year, 1000
tornadoes are reported nationwide.
What is anemometers ?
gravity is a force which attract
our body towards ground. ISAC
NEWTON is a scientist who
discovered gravity .
What is sea breeze ?
At night land cools rapidly .the air
convection currents is reversed.
this is known as land breeze.
What is air pressure?
Pressure at any time on earth due
to weights is known as pressure
What are monsoon winds?
Seasonal winds that bring rain
from sea to land during summer
and winter.
What are storms thunderstorm
cyclones tornadoes ect called ?
they are known as Natural disaster
