Description  Name of assignment or project: Study of introduction of wind turbine systems in the
typhoon dominated South East Asia region
 Main project features:
Contents and purpose of this research focuses on analizing the track and wind speed
record of a typhoon attacked Vietnam, the research clarifies the requirements of function
performance, strength to promote the wind power generation at vearious Vietnames
projects. Further analysis is done to clarify the functional requirements of wind turbines
through estimating effects of turbulences, geographical feature in the mountainous and
the island regions in Vietnam. Function performance requirements mentioned above
make the wind turbine system passible to satisfy the Vietnam conditions.
 Activities performed:
- Using MASCOT (only Japan) and MATLAB software to Analyses and evaluate the
possibility of installing of Hitachi’s wind turbine systems for Vietnam environmental
conditions.
 Vietnam environmental conditions (Grasp and analysis of an Vietnam
environmental conditions; Consideration of Vietnam Typhoon track and wind
velocity; Consideration of the turbulent factor in the Vietnam complex terrain)
 Evaluation on conformability of the wind turbine made in Japan. Selection the
most suitable specification for wind turbines in Vietnam.
 The advantage evaluation when installing a Japanese wind turbine. Comparison
in annual energy generation between a Japanese and a European wind turbine.

- The objective of this study has been to: i) support Moist in reviewing the existing Fit
support scheme for wind power, ii) determine the causes for the less than expected
dynamics in wind power deployment and iii) identify adequate solutions to overcome
possible barriers, including the re-calculation of the existing Fit.
- The results of this study are expected to provide all necessary information to policy
makers and planners in order to deepen their insight on issues and challenges
regarding grid-connected wind power. The basis for the revision and approval of a new
incentivizing mechanism, including a re-calculation of the tariff will be then available for
consideration. In this way an improved framework condition for wind energy in Vietnam
may be established which could stimulate investments and boost further development

Verify high wind speed induced by local tropical cyclone and complex terrain such as
mountains based on existing data; Identify required strength for wind power installation
based on presumption of high wind speed in the right spot, comparing with local wind
atlas. Identify the range cannot be deal with general design method or installation
method and consider the countermeasures.
 Activities performed:
- Estimation of Extreme Wind Speed Map in Vietnam by using Monte Carlo Simulation
of Tropical Cyclone.
 Also applicable to resource assessment and siting of wind turbine based on
measurement.
 Use technic of Monte Carlo Simulation to estimation of Tropical Cyclone
Parameters in Vietnam

  • 2. 2 Description  Name of assignment or project: Study of introduction of wind turbine systems in the typhoon dominated South East Asia region  Main project features: Contents and purpose of this research focuses on analizing the track and wind speed record of a typhoon attacked Vietnam, the research clarifies the requirements of function performance, strength to promote the wind power generation at vearious Vietnames projects. Further analysis is done to clarify the functional requirements of wind turbines through estimating effects of turbulences, geographical feature in the mountainous and the island regions in Vietnam.
