3. Internet Protocol (IP)
What is Internet Protocol?
Internet Protocol is a set of technical rules that
defines how computers communicate over a
network.
Currently, There are two versions of IP
IP version 4 (IPv4)
IP version 6 (IPv6).
4. Introduction of IPv6(Internet version 6)
IPv6 is a newer numbering system that provides a much
larger address pool than IPv4. It was deployed in 1999
and should meet the world’s IP addressing needs well
into the future.
IP addressing scheme and IP services to meet network
requirements
next-generation Internet protocol
128 bit address
5. Why we need IPv6?
Increase the number of people and devices
Evaluation of LTE as Technology of future
Reduce cyber attacks
End to end without NAT
Encryption and Authentication in network
layer itself
6. Features of IPv6
Larger Address Space
2128=340,282,366,920,938,468,374,607,431,770,000,000
Address Auto-configuration

10. Benefits of IPv6
IPv6 give us lots of addresses
More feature
Auto configuration
Ipsec
Support anycast
No broadcast traffic
Authentication and privacy capabilities
