4. death Andy Warhol died on February 22, 1987 and was a close fried to Basquiat This lead to Basquiatisolating himself and using more and more drugs like heroin Basquiat took a trip to Maui, Hawaii to try and get sober, but sadly his attempt did not work Basquiat died on August 12, 1988 at the age of 27 in his art studio in SoHo
