Meeting Minutes
A regular meeting of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 175 was held on June 1st, 2010 at the
Morgan Stanley Office, 4259 West Swamp Road Suite 400, Doylestown, PA. A quorum being
present the meeting was called to order at 1900.

Service Officer’s report: Karl discussed the incident of the Desert Memorial being torn down.
There is currently a reward of $125,000 for the perpetrator.
Karl also discussed the possible demise of the USS Olympia in Philadelphia. Efforts are being
made to save this shrine.

• Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Doylestown Oktoberfest 9 Oct 4 PM to 8 PM:
looking for volunteers to man collection points at the event (collection points for donated
clothes to needy veterans)

Public Relations: Intelligencer has printed a short piece on the flag replacement activity but no
picture was used. Channel 10 was contacted about the activity and asked Bob Staranowicz to
film the activity and interview a few of the participants. The piece was filmed by Bob at
Doylestown Cemetery and shown on Channel 10. The local VFW, VVA and American Legion
were mentioned on the air as participants in this annual event.
Educations Officer: Proposing Patriots Pen as a summer writing project for the participants.
Poppies Coordinator: Absent but poppies sales were a great success again this year
Past Commanders Report: Need Volunteers for next Neshaminy Manor Visit

o Motion from previous meeting rescinded icw Leo McHugh assistance for home repairs
New Business:
o Reward to Pete Llewellyn for Treasury Check (received) $2025.62 After several motions
and discussion final approval for $200 Marston / Pruitt
o Gift To Don Gee for Memorial Day Parade $150 McComb / Scott - approved
o Survivor Benefit raise to $500 – Staranowicz / Serafin- approved
o Limit the amount distributed in connection with a non-member’s death to a maximum of
$500. -- McComb / Staranowicz- approved
o Motion to establish scholarship funds in the amount of $1,000 each for CB East and CB
West. The Scholarship Committee was appointed by the Commander and consists of:

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned, according to ritual, at about 2100.
The next regular meeting will be Tuesday, July 6th at 1900 at the Doylestown Morgan Stanley
