Omaha Tribe Research Paper
The Omaha Tribe was one of the most powerful, successful, and popular tribes of the Great Plain
Indian Tribes. In the Great Plains, the Omaha Tribe settled in current day western Iowa and partly in
northeastern Nebraska. The land on which they lived, had plains covered with grass and rivers and
streams all over the area. The climate of this place consisted of hot summers and cold winters. They
used their areas' resources by fishing, hunting, and farming for food. They used the animal skin to
make clothing, blankets, shelter, shoes, and more. The Omaha tribe used everything around them to
make what they needed.
The Omahas' original land was in Ohio where they were doing well with farming and living well in
longhouses. When they relocated, they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was the chief and impacted the Omaha tribe very much. He helped his people with many issues
and serious problems. For example, he helped with threats from the Sioux, diseases, and
European/American encroachment. He made many good allies and tried very hard to become close
with the United States, but the U.S. didn't pull through and work with the deals Big Elk was
offering. Blackbird was also a very important chief for the Omaha tribe. He commanded many trade
routes used by the British, Spanish, American and French. Blackbird was one of the first chiefs to
trade with white explorers and used the trade as success for the tribe. While Blackbird was alive and
ruling, the Omaha tribe was the most powerful Great Plains tribe. Other important people of the
Omaha tribe were Iron Eye, Francis La Flesche, and also many

Book Report Eleanor & Park
1. Title of Work: "Eleanor & Park"
2. Author and Date Written: Rainbow Rowell; 2013
3. Country of Author: United States
4. Major Settings:
Omaha, Nebraska 1986: Omaha is where Eleanor and Park reside in. A small simple town, where
each resident is well acquainted with another.
School Bus: Eleanor and Park first laid eyes on each other in the school bus. "The new girl took a
deep breath and stepped farther down the aisle. Nobody would look at her. Park tried not to".(7). As
the main source of transportation to school for the a whole year, teens have chosen their "assigned
seats" on the first day of school, sectioning off clicks and friends. " "you can't sit there," Tina said.
"that's Mikayla's seat.".(8) Rowell uses the secluded atmosphere to emphasize Eleanor's difference
from the usual 80's teen norm.
Richie's House: Eleanor is sent back to Omaha from a good friend of her mother's, the Hickman's,
home when they get sick of catering to Eleanor. "Mr. Hickman kept telling his wife [...] "she's not
ours."(36). Forced against her will to stay with her mother and now stepfather, Richie. Like her
broken family, Eleanor now lives in a broken down home, Sharing one small bedroom with her four
younger siblings and uses a bathroom connected to the kitchen. "This house was designed by cave
trolls"(17). This is where Eleanor's narrative really steals the spotlight. Her step–dad is

Omaha Beach Landing Case Analysis
The purpose of this paper is to analyze an alternate outcome to the Omaha Beach landing in
Normandy, France. On June 6, 1944, the U.S. conducted an assault into Nazi occupied France. The
Nazi's terrain advantage and overwhelming forces at Omaha Beach nearly defeated the assault.
Applying SIGINT and HUMINT assets to discover the Nazi's had reinforced the beach, the U.S.
could have justified increased bombing runs and heavy naval gunfire prior to the assault. This would
have increased U.S. lethality, decreased the loss of life and equipment, and decreased the time it
took to advance through the objective. The U.S. was part of Operation Neptune, an amphibious
assault on Normandy. The operation was part of a larger military action called ... Show more content

Above the 200–300–meter tideline was shale and stone embankments on the western side, giving
way to woods farther east. The Germans had emplaced multiple types of obstacles along the beach
and in the cliffs above. Beach obstacles included concrete cones, angled poles with mines attached
to them, and sharply angled steel trails. Emplaced in the sand and shale were anti–tank and anti–
personnel mines, barbed and concertina wire. In the cliffs above the Germans had emplaced
bunkers, machine gun nests, tank turrets, and connecting tunnels. German defense weapons included
35 pill boxes, 60 light artillery pieces, 18 anti–tank guns, 85 machine gun emplacements, 38 rocket
emplacements, and the basic weapons for 12,000 German Soldiers. Any obstruction of enemy fields
of fire were removed, providing German forces with complete coverage of the landing zone.
Perhaps most important to the defense of Omaha Beach was who defended it. The 352 Infantry
Division were one of the toughest and most disciplined in the German Army. Of the 12,000+
Soldiers present, 6,800 were combat tested in previous battles with the Soviets. Minimal Allied
intelligence reports indicated that the U.S. forces were aware of this, and even then, no changes to
the operation occurred. Allied bombing and naval volleys damaged little to none of the German
troops at Omaha, leaving intact the most heavily fortified beach in the entire

Thesis For Malcolm X's Assassination
Malcolm X was assassinated February 21, 1965. Malcolm's assassination was unjust because he was
intelligent and was a truthful freedom fighter and empowered blacks but however he believed in
violence. Malcolm X was born May 19, 1925 in Omaha, Nebraska as Malcolm Little. He was also
known as El Hajj Malik El–Shabazz. He was the fourth of eight children born to Louise, a
homemaker, and Earl Little, a preacher who was also an active member of the local chapter of the
Universal Negro Improvement Association and supporter of black nationalist leader Marcus Garvey.
Because of Earl Little's civil rights activism, the family faced frequent harassment from white
supremacist groups such as the Ku Klux Klan and one of its splinter groups, the Black ... Show more

He then converted to traditional Islam, changing his name again. The name he chose was El–Hajj
Malik El–Shabazz. He returned to the United States, but this time he wasn't as angry and was
actually focusing on a more peaceful resolution to the race issues that were going on instead of
being violent and fighting for freedom in a more peaceful way. But, tragically just when it seemed
like he was trying to take a better approach to change the course of the Civil Rights Movement, he
was assassinated. It's interesting how when it seemed he was going to try to do things the right way
the second time around he ended up assassinated.
Malcolm X was gunned down on February 21, 1965 at the Audubon Ballroom in Manhattan. He was
about to give a speech addressing a rally of his followers when shots rang out. He was shot 15 times
at close range and fell on the stage of the Ballroom where he laid mortally wounded. His followers
attempted to help him but it was too late! He was pronounced dead at the Vanderbilt Clinic of

Omaha Beach: The Battle Of D-Day
Nearly 73 years ago, the invasion that tore Hitler apart turned the tide of World War II substantially
in America's favor; within hours of men first hitting Omaha Beach, beach landing had a new
meaning. After months of meeting, planning, training, supplying, and deceiving German forces, the
largest joint–invasion force humanity had ever seen shipped off for their objective. For the
Americans this included conquering Omaha and Utah Beaches. (Ambrose 325) Omaha Beach stood
as a significant landing site because without a landing at Omaha, Utah and Gold Beaches would
have a chasm between them, exposing their flank, even though Allied planners loathed landing on
Omaha (321). Omaha Beach on the coast of Normandy represents the sacrifice, horror, ... Show

To motivate the men, Colonel Charles Canham yelled, "Get the hell off this damn beach and go kill
some Germans[,]" then charged up to the cliff edge (Ambrose 344). To scale the hundred foot cliffs,
infantrymen used rocket–fired grappling hooks, portable ladders, and even an extension ladder loned
by London's Fire Department. As infantrymen scaled and secured the cliffs, Nazi defenders fought
back with small arms such as rifles and pistols. Men who came in on the last waves met this
unsuppressed fire. (Vogt 4) Ernest Hemingway, a World War I veteran and writer, came in on the
seventh wave as a correspondent for Collier's Magazine (Ambrose 478). Reporter A. J. Liebling of
the New Yorker also covered the invasion. A few days after D–Day, Liebling climbed the bluff for
his first time. He stated, "The trenches were deep, narrow, and so convoluted that an attacking force
at any point could be fired on from several directions. Important knots in the system, like the
command post and mortar emplacements, were of concrete. The command post was sunk at least
twenty–five feet into the ground and was faced with brick on the inside. The garrison had slept in
underground bomb proofs, with timbered ceilings and wooden floors. It looked like a regular
Maginot Line."

Applying Standardized Terminology in Nursing Essay
Applying Standardized Terminologies in Practice

NR 512: Nursing Informatics
Fall 2014
Introduction
As a result of the introduction of computer technology and the combination of evidence–based
practice in nursing; standardization of terminologies has become imperative in the classification of
nursing diagnosis, interventions and expected outcomes. The most popular and successful systems
are the North American Nursing Diagnosis Association International (NANDA–I), Nursing
Outcomes Classification (NOC), and Nursing Intervention Classification (NIC) (de Lima Lopes, de
Barros, & Marlene Michel, 2009). This paper aims to provide a brief outline of these standardized
terminologies (STs) as they relate to a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nurses should take care to select the proper outcomes to ensure optimum care is provided to patients
with CHF. The plan of care is dependent on the nursing diagnosis and the desired nurse–sensitive
outcomes. The priority NOC outcome for the diagnosis of CHF is Fluid Balance and Fluid Overload
Severity. Other related NOC outcomes are Knowledge: Cardiac Disease Management, Knowledge:
Energy conservation, Knowledge: Medication, Knowledge: Prescribed Activity, Knowledge:
Treatment, and Knowledge: Weight Management (Johnson et al., 2012). These are only a select few
of the multiple outcomes available; care should be modified as the disease progresses through the
problems which evolves over the lifetime of patients diagnoses with CHF. Once all these
determinants are established, the nurse will be prepared to determine which level of NOC is
essential to effectively manage the disease.
Nursing Intervention Classification
Nursing interventions are focused on nursing behaviors to guide the patient in the direction of the
most preferred outcome (Johnson et al., 2012). Fluid management, fluid/electrolyte management,
and hypervolemia management are the major interventions in effective management of CHF. Fluid
management is the most difficult intervention for all patients suffering from CHF. Evaluation of the
patient's ability to make the appropriate lifestyle changes required to

Battle of Normandy Essay
One of the most significant encounters of World War II was the Battle of Normandy (the first day of
which is commonly referred to as D–Day). Nearly three million soldiers were deployed for the
invasion. Those deployed consisted mainly of American and British soldiers, however Canadian,
French, Polish, Belgian, and Czech forces were represented as well (Jensen). The battle was fought
in an effort to gain European ground and to reduce the German potential for overrunning Russia
(Lucas). The Battle of Normandy was significant in that it was the turning point of World War II,
incurred heavy casualties on each side, and was the greatest amphibious landing in history (Cohen).

Thousands of large still spikes (known as hedgehogs) were also sunk into the sand to halt the
progress of enemy tanks (Newark 145). Allied troops readied themselves for the assault. The attack
on Normandy had been pushed to June fifth, 1944; however the forecast on June third predicted
unfavorable conditions due to unusually high winds. The invasion ultimately took place on June 6th,
1944 (D–Day) (Cohen). The first troops deployed into battle were paratroopers. Over thirteen
thousand U.S. paratroopers were dropped by an armada of C–47s behind German lines before dawn.
Their mission was to seize bridges, disrupt communications, and prevent German soldiers from
reinforcing the Normandy beaches as the Allied assault hit the coastline (Alberecht). Heavy cloud
coverage made for difficult navigation and forced many of the paratroopers to jump blind. This
resulted in them being scattered over a 100–square mile radius. Thirty–five percent of these soldiers
landed at their designated drop point, while many others died when they landed in fields flooded by
the Germans. Despite all of this, the remaining troops were able to secure their intended positions
(Dry). The next phase in the Battle of Normandy was the storming of the beaches. A fleet of 4,000
ships carrying 176,000 men set sail. The chosen landing area was east of the Cotentin Peninsula in
Normandy along the beaches.

Omaha Beach Attack
When you think of Omaha Beach, what comes to mind? The soldiers clashing on the beach. Or
maybe a relative's story of how they dodged the oncoming bullets. Perhaps the boats taking soldiers
across the channel. What comes to my mind is the bravery of the soldiers under fire. If you think
that's interesting, then stick around. I'll give you an in depth look at what happened at Omaha Beach
on that fateful day.
Omaha beach was the biggest D–Day invasion site at six miles wide. It the second most–western
beach, with Utah Beach being farthest to the west. The attack began on June 6, 1944. (Drez) Omaha
Beach saw the fiercest fighting. It had a 12 foot tall sea wall. (Williams) There were also large cliffs
separating the beach from the nearby towns. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All the soldier that were supposed to arrive at Fox Green landed farther to the east. But troops from
Companies E and F were pushed by the current from Easy Red, and they took the place of the 16th
Regiment troops that were pushed to the east. The downside was that they came in under heavy fire
and had almost no cover, mainly because of the lack of a seawall on that section of the beach. Easy
Red was the largest section of Omaha Beach. Over 50% of this section was in between two of the
German strong points. The Engineers of the 37th and 149th Engineer Combat Battalions gave it
their all trying to make a path through the German defenses in the water. While this was happening,
Company E of the 116th was trying to flank the strong point that was farther to the west. They had
help from two of the navy destroyers, and a few other destroyers helped provide cover for the troops
being landed, one of them being the USS Frankford. The 18th Regiment of the 1st Division was
landed around 09:30 hours. They only lost 28 landing boats when the troops were being landed, and
they managed to land with better success than the 16th did. They helped to secure the Valley that
was near the strong point that Company E had secured earlier. That valley later became the main
way to the towns surrounding Omaha Beach. Part of Company E of the 116th and Company E of the

The Importance Of The Normandy Invasion

This was a very long stretch of beach near the Cherbourg peninsula, bordered by Utah Beach and
Gold Beach. The 1st and 29th American infantry divisions landed here on June 6, 1944 at
approximately 6.30 A.M. The landscape of the beach and surrounding area made it easy to defend,
but very difficult to attack. Facing the shore were large cliffs with multiple machine gun
emplacements and bunkers looking down towards it. Between the bunkers was barely any cover for
the soldiers. This brings up the question: Why did the Allies attack it? There are many reasons.
First, the Allies needed a way to link up Utah to Gold and the rest of the British sector. Utah was
needed for the capture of Cherbourg, and Gold was needed to put the Mulberry harbor in place. If
these did not get linked to each other, the soldiers on each front wouldn't be able to communicate
effectively. Second, the Allied needed to make sure the Germans couldn't regroup and counterattack.
A counterattack at that stage would be terrible for the Allies because they had not landed much
supplies yet and had sustained a lot of casualties. Taking Omaha would prevent this from happening.
Finally, Omaha covered the most land. This was essential for capturing the most possible towns,
cities, and communication hubs. In spite of all the difficulties, the Allies took the cliffs at around 10

The shoreline loomed ominously in the distance. I could faintly make out the gray concrete
fortifications that sat on top of the colossal jagged cliff, barely visible through the haze of the early
morning fog that enveloped the coast of German–controlled France. I could see the Nazi flag

in slow motion. It was 06:30. My company commander ordered our assault craft forward. The boat

child slapping his hand playfully against the cool water of a local swimming pool.
The boat rocked precariously back and forth with the motion of the ever changing sea. Suddenly, ...

The soldier kneeled next to me, pulling a canteen from his backpack. He touched the metal lid to my

The health industry is in the process of adopting evidence based interventions. This has lead to the

This will include the determination of the kind of diet a patient takes and the degree of exercising
together with the knowledge of how various activities affect the heart. The next consideration would
be the determination of the body's fluid levels. This would be followed by the examination of the
body and patient's regulatory systems which affects the body's fluid level. The next step will then be
the evaluation of the disease status of the patient. Other diseases may have a negative effect to the
ability of the heart to pump blood to the various parts of the body and this step will enable the nurse
to discover which disease is causing a negative effect to the heart. The evaluation of the family
status will reveal any conflicts that may be causing the heart failure while at the same time provide
an understanding of the degree of effectiveness of therapeutic regimen management. Through this
data, the nurse will be in a position to determine the patient's current status and aid in determining
the level of outcomes that is required to manage the disease effectively.
Nursing Outcome Classification
At this stage, the nurse should establish the levels to be reached for each of the causes determined in
the diagnosis process. First, the nurse should set the required compliance behavior to the strategies
to be implemented. This will be followed by the determination of the level of

Most of people think that writing and reading can just be learned in school but that is not always the
case. Effectively, Malcolm X proves this in his essay titled Prison Studies, where we can
experience a war that started between him and ignorance. In fact, he informs us in his essay that
after he felt envy of Bimbi's stock of knowledge, he decided to study, even if it was not maybe the
right or the best place to do that. This essay is a story about a man who had a lot of time in hands

Standards And Terminology Assignment : Nursing
Standards/Terminology Assignment
Nursing is a field that requires all people involved in a patient's care to be able to speak the same
language, and to understand what is begin done to improve each patient's outcome. There is no room
for error or misinterpretation. This is the reason that it is critical to implement standards for nursing
terminology. The Center for Nursing Classification and Effectiveness (CNC) is the organization
responsible for ongoing research and development of the Nursing Interventions Classification and
the Nursing Outcomes Classification (Center for Nursing Classification and Effectiveness, n.d.).
The Nursing Interventions Classification and the Nursing Outcomes Classification, are
standardized nursing terminologies focused on nursing treatments and patient outcomes for use
across settings and specialties (Center for Nursing Classification and Effectiveness, n.d.). Both
nursing classifications are recognized by the American Nurses' Association.
Nursing Interventions Classification (NIC) is a standardized set of interventions that are used in all
fields of nursing (Bulecheck, Butcher, Dochterman, Wagner, 2013). Because the interventions are
standardized, any nursing specialty will know what was performed on the patient by the care
provider. This includes all care areas including; psychological, psychosocial, illness treatment,
illness prevention, health promotion, community, family and indirect care (Bulecheck et al., 2013).

Essay about The Strategy Of The Allies On D-Day
In the years since 1945, it has become increasingly evident that the alliance between the British and
the United States was often in disagreement over the correct strategy to insure the final defeat of the
Axis powers. Early on, both British and American staffs could agree that Germany represented a
greater military threat than Japan, but they did not often see eye to eye on the strategy that would
most efficiently defeat them. The Americans were early and persistent advocates of a direct strategy,
a cross–channel attack that would first destroy German military in the West, and then drive deep into
the heart of industrial Germany to end the war. The British, on the other hand, preferred to stage a
number of small–scale attacks around the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

May of 1944, and to allow President Franklin D. Roosevelt to name a commander for the operation.
Although both Marshall and Brooke were contenders for the appointment, both even promised it,
they were passed over. Instead, all favored in the selection of General Dwight D. Eisenhower, who
was then commanding United States forces in Europe. On January 14 1944, Eisenhower, who was
now Supreme Commander, Allied Expeditionary Force, arrived in London to begin work on the
final invasion plan. The Chief of Staff to the Supreme Allied Commander (COSSAC) planners
proposed to land three divisions (two British and one American) abreast onto Normandy's sand and
shingle beaches, followed immediately by two more and flanked on the east, near Caen, by elements
of a British parachute division. Many details, including the exact landing date, were not specified by
COSSAC in order to leave some flexibility to the Supreme Commander. The weather, tides, and
light conditions required for the landing were outlined and calculated so that the precise calculations
for H Hour on D Day could be made in the future. The plan also called for the

Operation Overload Research Paper
The battle of Normandy or D–day, is infamous within US Army history books. Today I will discuss
the attack on Pointe du Hoc, which was the pivot point of Operation Overload. Soldiers from the
US Army 2nd and 5th Ranger battalions were called upon to start this attack. Primarily the heroic
actions and personal courage of the 2nd Ranger Battalion, will be today's main topic. We will touch
upon the German forces, actions that lead to the assault on Point du hoc, the days leading up to D–
Day, 2nd Ranger Battalion's main mission and other supporting actions that allow the story to
unfold.
Operation Overload, otherwise known as the Battle of Normandy, was a successful allied assault on
Western Europe. Pointe du Hoc towered 30 meters above a narrow pebble beach. This was

Leading up to the attack, on June 6 1944, the U.S. Eighth Air Force and British Bomber Command
repeatedly plastered the coastline with heavy aerially bombardment with the main focus being Point
du Hoc. Pointe du Hoc was a 100ft cliff overlooking the English Channel. It lied 4 miles west of the
center to Omaha Beach. It was also the highest point between Omaha beach on the east and Utah
beach on the west. On the morning of 6 June, at 0445, 225 Soldiers comprised of Delta, Echo, and
Foxtrot Companies, 2nd Ranger Battalion boarded their Landing Craft Assault (LCA) boats and
headed out. The boats were crewed by British forces and they carried 22 men on each one. Upon
headed out into the choppy sea for an hour–long trip to their destination. Riding in the landing craft
was rough and cold, and several Rangers became seasick. Others worked vigorously to empty water
out of the boats in an effort to keep them from sinking. One LCA capsized, leaving the assault team
with twenty–two less men for the mission. As the early morning sun began to rise, the Rangers
quickly realized something wasn't correct. They were supposed to start the H–hour at 0630. The

Essay about D-Day by Stephen E. Ambrose
The destroyers of the naval armada prepared for the Normandy landings played a pivotal role in the
battles on the beaches. Furthermore, without the support of the destroyers, specifically on Omaha
Beach, the infantry landings on D–Day would have failed and the Allies would have been defeated.
D–Day by Stephen E. Ambrose follows the landings on the Calvados coast of Normandy from the
pre–planning stages all the way up through the invasion and through about D–Day plus one – one
day after the Normandy landings. The first two chapters deal with the combatants in a general
fashion before moving on to the location of the landings and why it was chosen. From there, Mr.
Ambrose moves into planning of the operation and the preparation for the ... Show more content on

As the day progressed, this prospect seemed more and more likely until the naval commander
released the destroyers to provide support to the troops on the beaches and on top of the bluffs. This
support This support helped to both establish and maintain the American beach head at Omaha
Beach. The units that were supposed to come ashore before the first wave were special tanks called
DD, or Duplex Drive, tanks. These tanks, especially in the case of Omaha Beach, either sank before
or were destroyed as they came ashore. The loss of these tanks meant that the troops landing on
Omaha Beach would not have any close support from heavy weapons. ONce the troops began to
land, this became a serious problem which the destroyers of the Allied armada solved for the troops
on the beach. Destroyers would take turns cruising in as close as they could and then would proceed
to provide fire support for the besieged troops by blasting machine gun and 88 mm gun
emplacements with their five–inch guns. This fire support was crucial to the formation of a
beachhead on Omaha Beach, in doing so, preventing the Allied invasion on Omaha Beach from
being thrown back and possibly ending the invasion of France in defeat. The other great contribution
of the destroyers to the Normandy landings is more intangible. The actions of the destroyers as
artillery served to

About Schmidt Essay
About Schmidt This movie is about a sixty–six year old man named Warren Schmidt who's a
recently retired and widowed. Suddenly he finds himself left alone to face the loss and changes in
his life. He decides to take a road trip to visit places that he had not been to for a long times and do
some sightseeing before heading off to Denver for his daughter's wedding. The film starts off with
Schmidt's last day at work before his retirement, we see him sitting in dull silence in his office
staring at the wall clock as it ticks. As soon as the clock ticks 5, he stood up and left the room,
showing not particular emotion as the audience may expect. Then later that night, Schmidt had his ...

the pace of the voiceover speeds up and with the editing we see different shot his wife's armpits, her
bottom and Schmidt himself sitting down as he urinates because his wife made him, amongst his
wife's habits that irritated him. Then very suddenly and unexpectedly his wife dies and Schmidt
realises how important she was to him, how she looked after him so well and kept his life

Examining the Different Ways in Which D–day Landing at Omaha Beach is Depicted in Saving
Private Ryan and The Longest Day
' Saving Private Ryan' was made in 1998 by Stephen Spielberg and gives a graphic depiction of the
events at Omaha beach on D–day, focusing on a small section of the army and portrays it on a more
personal level. 'The Longest Day' was made 17 years after the war in 1963 by director Darryl
Zannuck. This gives us more of an overview of the entirety of D–Day depicting army, navy and air
force as well as the German army and French resistance. Both films portray the landing as acts of
heroism giving the viewer a strong sense of the Patrism however the director's aims differ resulting

Although both films begin slowly 'Saving Private Ryan' gets started a lot quicker and has a faster
pace throughout the whole film.
After the man has collapsed to the floor the camera zooms into his eyes and the scene changes. It
focuses on another mans face with the caption 'Dog Green sector Omaha Beach June 6th 1944.' This
is a flashback and a complete contrast from the cemetery. It's very loud and the colours are grey and
dark. The camera then focuses on the man's shaking hands and the men around him who are clearly
nervous, praying or being sick; Spiel burg is determined to show from the start that the war is not
glamorous or a game. You see how stormy it is and how many boats there are approaching the
beach. Bullets start straight away and people are killed before they have even got off the boats.
When they start going in to the water the camera does a number of underwater shots whilst bullets
fire past them. It is as if the camera is seeing through the eyes of one of the soldiers, making you
feel very involved in the struggle. The water becomes clouded with blood and at one point the
camera bobs up and down in the water, seeming like a drowning man. All of this adds to making the
viewer feel like they are right there with them making it quite personal.
When they get on the beach it focuses again on John Miller who

The Autobiography Of Malcolm X
Do something about it. Everyone has problems from struggles in life. Malcolm X told his life story
of how he overcame in his autobiography simply called The Autobiography of Malcolm X as told to
Alex Haley. His life changed the world historically, socially, and especially politically by taking a
stand against racism of all kinds which still exists in today's modern standards. Using his personal
life experience with racism towards African–Americans, Malcolm spreads the word on equality for
all with a realistic tone that inspires trust in him. Malcolm X reaches all kinds of people in an effort
to voice his thoughts on equality for all using rhetorical and persuasive techniques for a more
effective message. From the beginning, the story Malcolm X tells uses a tone of realism and
relatability to establish a dominant impression upon the reader's mind. An example of this tone is
when Malcolm, at a young age, accepts his ultimate fate that had just befallen his father. Malcolm
tells Alex that It has always been my belief that I, too, will die by violence. I have done all that I
can to be prepared (4). The definitiveness he says this with is not an attempt at making readers feel
empathy for him, but to appeal to logic by presenting this as a fact of the kind of world he lives in.
When Malcolm chooses to state die by violence (4) instead of describing what kind of violence or
with more emotion, he gets the reader past the emotional aspect of his belief with this stolid diction

The Omaha Beach Scene In Steven Spielberg's Saving Private...
Some movies involve a certain scene in which the significance to the film's key ideas is prominently
displayed, and many will argue that the Omaha beach scene in Steven Spielberg's Saving Private
Ryan is a perfect example of one of these scenes. Spielberg uses many examples of both visual and
aural techniques to allow the audience to help recognise the challenges faced by Captain Miller and
his men. The scene takes place on a beach on the coast of Normandy in France, as US troops attempt
to mount an assault on the beach. Spielberg masterfully displays the idea of shock and despair, while
maintaining a degree of reality during the scene. This means the audience can open their mind to
something that they would not normally think about – the harsh ... Show more content on

This allows the first images of all of the characters to be a more personal one, and the viewers can
clearly see the nervousness and despair in some of their faces. The viewer can easily assume that
these men are being herded into extreme peril, and the medium shots of their faces reinforce the way
that they feel at that moment in time – albeit a fearful and apprehensive mindset. Spielberg does not
let this be the only indication of how the characters feel however, and he accompanies these
endowing shots with close ups of the soldiers, and more specifically Captain Miller himself. We are
first shown a close up shot of Miller's hand, clearly trembling as he undoes the lid on his canteen,
showing us the nervousness that was clearly felt by those involved. The shaking hand is masterfully
utilised by the director to provide us with a shocking contrast to the soldiers that we are expecting in
war films – those brave young men, filled with enthusiasm and confident they they will walk away
from any situation unharmed. This single close up, in combination with the prevailing medium
shots, is highly effective in illustrating the directors overall purpose – to show the audience the harsh
realities of war, displaying the shock of those involved to us as the viewers. We realise how bad the
conditions were during this event, and how draining and painful it must have been for all involved.
The audience feels sympathy for the men, for the hardships they faced, and for their clearly evident

A Summary Of The Ponca Tribe
Great Plains tribes share a history of events in the late 19th century. This essay focuses on the Ponca
tribe and the trial of Standing Bear, one of their chiefs. Other tribes experienced similar incidents of
callous disregard for legal rights and struggles to accept their fate of losing their tribal lands and
relocating to Indian Territory that barely sustained the people and shattered tribal customs and
practices. It is also a story of help provided by white Americans to resolve conflicts and restore the
Ponca to their rightful land (Brennan, Authors Note). The travails of the Ponca tribe are typical of
19th century U.S.–Indian relations experienced by Native Americans.
Discussion
The Ponca Story The Ponca signed several treaties with the United States after a 1817 peace treaty:
a trade agreement in 1825 and land cession in 1858 and 1865 to ensure military protection and
economic assistance. In the 1860s and 1870s, the Ponca almost starved after droughts,
unproductive bison hunts and constant threats to the Ponca by the Sioux threatened their existence.
Rather than honor treaty obligations, the U.S. gave Ponca land to the Sioux in 1868 that included all
of Dakota Territory (van de Logt). In 1877, Indian tribes, including the Ponca, were ordered to move
to Indian Territory in the south. After ten chiefs visited the new location and found the situation
unsustainable for farming or grazing, eight walked back and stopped at the Otoe and Omaha
reservations. A letter

Primary Diagnosis. After careful consideration and evaluation, we have concluded on two nursing
diagnoses for the above family. The primary diagnosis is Interrupted Family Processes related to
changes in financial and parental responsibilities. This was evident during the interview process
with the family. Both spouses verbalized concerns regarding the recent change in family
relationships and functioning following J.L.M.'s birth (Wilkinson, 2014; Ackley Ladwig, 2014).
Secondary Diagnosis. In addition to above, the secondary diagnosis is Risk for Caregiver Role
Strain related to amount of caregiving tasks and lack of respite and recreation for caregiver (J.M.).
This is evidenced by J.M. verbalizing concerns of exhaustion, no time for herself and difficulty
finding the time to get everything done. This diagnosis will focus on meeting J.M.'s needs as the
primary caregiver for the family (Wilkinson, 2014; Ackley Ladwig, 2014).

History Of The Omaha Tribe
The Plains Indians tribe that I chose to research was the Omaha Tribe. The Omaha Tribe lived near
present – day Nebraska and parts of Iowa; however, the Omaha Tribe is most known for being
native to Nebraska. This tribe is still on a reservation in Macy, Nebraska today. This tribe is in
Nebraska because when the Europeans arrived to North America, they drove out the Omaha Tribe
along with many other Plains Indians Tribes. Today, the Omaha Tribe consists of around 6,000
members. The Omaha Tribe was a unique tribe mainly because of what they practiced. The Omaha
Tribe practiced polygamy, which was the practice of one man having multiple spouses. In the
Omaha Tribe, the maximum number of wives that a man could have was three. Their [the Omaha
Tribe] religion was associated with the practice of medicine, and with their war customs, and with
their gentile systems (https://www.accessgenealogy.com/native/omaha–tribe.htm). Originally, the
Omaha Tribe commonly lived in bark longhouse villages. However, they then started to become
accustomed more to living in tepees, and that is what they mostly still live in today.
Only men were selected to lead the tribe until 1880. Men from the Omaha Tribe commonly wore
leggings and buckskin shirts with breechcloth. The wore moccasins on their feet. However, in colder
weather, they made long robes out of buffalo hide and wore them in the cold. The shirts were
usually fringed and dirty. The women of the Omaha tribe wore clothes made from buckskin

The American Dream
The American Dream is an idea which is commonly interpreted as working towards a dream or
aspiration one has until it has been achieved. This idea is so significant in American society because
it encourages people to elevate themselves in society and to aspire to become something great. In
theory, this concept is a great model to live by and to encourage a nation to propel themselves into
their own unique ideas of success. Even if it is difficult and there are many barriers that exist and
have existed, those who have continued to pursue a passion or movement have always seemed to
succeed. American culture is full of real and fictional Rags to Riches stories because it is always a
real option and possibility to pursue in American society. Many of the people who have their own
rags to riches stories include Warren Buffett, Elon Musk, and Oprah Winfrey. From any limitation
which anyone has faced, there always has seemed to be someone who has risen up from those
struggles and prejudices in order to fulfil their interpretation of the American Dream. Many people
are able to fulfill the American Dream from many backgrounds, but all had the same ambitions to
pursue ones dream.
A good example which shows that barriers do not define one's ability to pursue their dreams is
Warren Buffett. Buffett was born in the American midwest during the later parts of the Great
Depression in which he was commonly exposed to poverty, and in his early life was poor himself. In
his youth, Buffett

of the Midwest. Visual plays a great factor in the passage, Marquarts want to describe how the
Midwest gets looked down. Marquart uses visuals .. through the state of North Dakota, you'll
encounter a road so lonely, treeless and devoid of rising and curves in places that it will feel like a
long–held pedal steel guitar note. The visuals are used to print a picture in the reader's mind
showing the reader that long rides are boring and driving through the Midwest is boring because
there is nothing to see. She also used a simile to describe how it just one big long road of nothing.
The long guitar note is used to show the reader that a single note is dull when a single note is

Reflective Essay On Service
To do service is to help others and to do justice is to serve. With limited service experience and
minimal justice work, I have a different understanding of what justice is and how I can do it as a
professional. The service work that I have done while at Creighton happened during my freshman
year. My idea of justice comes from how I was raised, some personal experience, and one of the
readings that was discussed in class.
My experience with service while at Creighton started and ended my freshman year with the
Freshman Leadership Program. Because this service experience was three years ago I do not
remember all of the details and conversations that I had while doing this service, following is what I
remember of my service experiences. One of the service sites that I went to through this program
was the South Omaha Boys and Girls Club. At the club the members of the program were asked to
play with the kids, helped the children make crafts, and teach kids from 12 to 14 years of age about
bullying.
When I think about how I was feeling about this service I did not really understand how I was
helping out the organization or how this was really considered service. I was just walking around
talking to kids who could care less if I was there or not. When I think of who really benefitted from
me going to this service site once a week, my list starts with institutions, Creighton University, the
Freshman Leadership Program, the Boys and Girls Club. Then on a lesser scale

How To Write An Essay On Puerto Rico
This week with it being cold here in Omaha, I thought of a warm place in the Caribbean. It has
crystal blue waters, white sand beaches, great attractions, impressive scenery, nightlife, gambling,
fishing, cultural experiences, friendly locals, golf and hiking. I discovered you could find affordable
top ranked vacations in the Caribbean. Some of the hot spots there are Jamaica, U.S Virgin Islands,
Barbados, Puerto Rico, Dominica, and Punta Cana. I am going to talk about Puerto Rico since it
seems like an amazing vacation for travelers.
I found one of the best things to do in Puerto Rico are the caves one is called Parque de las Cavernas
del Río Camuy. When you arrive at the park you take a tram ride down to a 180–foot high cave

The Battle Of Omaha Beach Essay
On June 6th 1944, the U.S. and allied forces executed an amphibious assault named Operation
Neptune, commonly known as D–Day, along the north–western coastline region of France. The
operation covered in this paper will discuss a key battle during the Invasion of Normandy. The
Invasion of Normandy was a successful operation focused towards German–occupied Western
Europe during World War II. This paper will also cover a brief history and key points of The Battle
of Omaha Beach. Critical reasoning and battle analysis will be expressed through what intelligence
assets were applied, utilized and available during the time era. The analysis outcome will lead to an
expressed alternative ending on The Battle of Omaha Beach. A detailed explanation of how
intelligence assets could have been used to change the course of the battle will defend the explained
alternative ending discussed. The main points of discussion will include Adolf Hitler's decision to
move most of his tank divisions and infantry units 150 miles north to Calais, the significance of the
highly effective group known as the French Resistance and a famous illusionist Jasper Maskelyne.
The Battle of Omaha Beach was known as one of the deadliest battles to date within our history.
Shortly after the United States entered World War II in 1941, U.S. and allied mission planning began

Computer Mediated Communication Theory Is Defined As A...
Computer–mediated communication theory is defined as a type of human communication that
occurs through the use of two or more electronic devices. Human–computer interaction involves the
study, planning, design, and uses of communication between people and computers. The computer
serves as the network for the communication between the two individuals. There is a source of
information that is sent by the sender through the network, also known as the source of noise, to the
receiver to reach its destination (Human–Computer Interaction, n.d.). System theory expresses that
a system is a set of interacting parts enclosed in a boundary. This theory involves the open and
closed systems. An open system is enclosed in a semipermeable boundary that ... Show more

I believe I can take the new knowledge I have learned about these theories and apply them to the
interactions I have with my patients in my future nursing practice. Florence Nightingale is reflected
as the first nurse informaticist. She recognized the value of data that revealed healthcare. The
computer became a major impact for the formation of nursing informatics. The American Nurses
Association encourages all registered nurses to have informatics skills to practice nursing
effectively. It is recognized that nursing informatics competencies are an essential part of clinical
practice. Informatics competencies for nurses have focused on nursing education. There are three
competencies areas when educating nurses on informatics. These include computer literacy skills,
information literacy skills, and overall informatics competencies. As the quantity of patient
information nurses manage continues to grow so does the use of healthcare information
technologies. This will require the need to continue to find effective ways to help nurses adjust to
the growing of informatics requirements. There are many goals of nursing informatics that involve
nurses. One goal is to use data, information, and knowledge to increase better outcomes for patient
care. Defining data involving patient care is another goal. Obtaining and delivering accurate
knowledge regarding patient care. Create new tools from new technology involving patient care.

Omaha Tribe Research Paper

  • 1. Omaha Tribe Research Paper The Omaha Tribe was one of the most powerful, successful, and popular tribes of the Great Plain Indian Tribes. In the Great Plains, the Omaha Tribe settled in current day western Iowa and partly in northeastern Nebraska. The land on which they lived, had plains covered with grass and rivers and streams all over the area. The climate of this place consisted of hot summers and cold winters. They used their areas' resources by fishing, hunting, and farming for food. They used the animal skin to make clothing, blankets, shelter, shoes, and more. The Omaha tribe used everything around them to make what they needed. The Omahas' original land was in Ohio where they were doing well with farming and living well in longhouses. When they relocated, they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He was the chief and impacted the Omaha tribe very much. He helped his people with many issues and serious problems. For example, he helped with threats from the Sioux, diseases, and European/American encroachment. He made many good allies and tried very hard to become close with the United States, but the U.S. didn't pull through and work with the deals Big Elk was offering. Blackbird was also a very important chief for the Omaha tribe. He commanded many trade routes used by the British, Spanish, American and French. Blackbird was one of the first chiefs to trade with white explorers and used the trade as success for the tribe. While Blackbird was alive and ruling, the Omaha tribe was the most powerful Great Plains tribe. Other important people of the Omaha tribe were Iron Eye, Francis La Flesche, and also many ... Author and Date Written: Rainbow Rowell; 2013 3. Country of Author: United States 4. Major Settings: Omaha, Nebraska 1986: Omaha is where Eleanor and Park reside in. A small simple town, where each resident is well acquainted with another. School Bus: Eleanor and Park first laid eyes on each other in the school bus. "The new girl took a deep breath and stepped farther down the aisle. Nobody would look at her. Park tried not to".(7). As the main source of transportation to school for the a whole year, teens have chosen their "assigned seats" on the first day of school, sectioning off clicks and friends. " "you can't sit there," Tina said. "that's Mikayla's seat.".(8) Rowell uses the secluded atmosphere to emphasize Eleanor's difference from the usual 80's teen norm. Richie's House: Eleanor is sent back to Omaha from a good friend of her mother's, the Hickman's, home when they get sick of catering to Eleanor. "Mr. Hickman kept telling his wife [...] "she's not ours."(36). Forced against her will to stay with her mother and now stepfather, Richie. Like her broken family, Eleanor now lives in a broken down home, Sharing one small bedroom with her four younger siblings and uses a bathroom connected to the kitchen. "This house was designed by cave trolls"(17). This is where Eleanor's narrative really steals the spotlight. Her step–dad is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Omaha Beach Landing Case Analysis The purpose of this paper is to analyze an alternate outcome to the Omaha Beach landing in Normandy, France. On June 6, 1944, the U.S. conducted an assault into Nazi occupied France. The Nazi's terrain advantage and overwhelming forces at Omaha Beach nearly defeated the assault. Applying SIGINT and HUMINT assets to discover the Nazi's had reinforced the beach, the U.S. could have justified increased bombing runs and heavy naval gunfire prior to the assault. This would have increased U.S. lethality, decreased the loss of life and equipment, and decreased the time it took to advance through the objective. The U.S. was part of Operation Neptune, an amphibious assault on Normandy. The operation was part of a larger military action called ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Above the 200–300–meter tideline was shale and stone embankments on the western side, giving way to woods farther east. The Germans had emplaced multiple types of obstacles along the beach and in the cliffs above. Beach obstacles included concrete cones, angled poles with mines attached to them, and sharply angled steel trails. Emplaced in the sand and shale were anti–tank and anti– personnel mines, barbed and concertina wire. In the cliffs above the Germans had emplaced bunkers, machine gun nests, tank turrets, and connecting tunnels. German defense weapons included 35 pill boxes, 60 light artillery pieces, 18 anti–tank guns, 85 machine gun emplacements, 38 rocket emplacements, and the basic weapons for 12,000 German Soldiers. Any obstruction of enemy fields of fire were removed, providing German forces with complete coverage of the landing zone. Perhaps most important to the defense of Omaha Beach was who defended it. The 352 Infantry Division were one of the toughest and most disciplined in the German Army. Of the 12,000+ Soldiers present, 6,800 were combat tested in previous battles with the Soviets. Minimal Allied intelligence reports indicated that the U.S. forces were aware of this, and even then, no changes to the operation occurred. Allied bombing and naval volleys damaged little to none of the German troops at Omaha, leaving intact the most heavily fortified beach in the entire ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Thesis For Malcolm X's Assassination Malcolm X was assassinated February 21, 1965. Malcolm's assassination was unjust because he was intelligent and was a truthful freedom fighter and empowered blacks but however he believed in violence. Malcolm X was born May 19, 1925 in Omaha, Nebraska as Malcolm Little. He was also known as El Hajj Malik El–Shabazz. He was the fourth of eight children born to Louise, a homemaker, and Earl Little, a preacher who was also an active member of the local chapter of the Universal Negro Improvement Association and supporter of black nationalist leader Marcus Garvey. Because of Earl Little's civil rights activism, the family faced frequent harassment from white supremacist groups such as the Ku Klux Klan and one of its splinter groups, the Black ... He returned to the United States, but this time he wasn't as angry and was actually focusing on a more peaceful resolution to the race issues that were going on instead of being violent and fighting for freedom in a more peaceful way. But, tragically just when it seemed like he was trying to take a better approach to change the course of the Civil Rights Movement, he was assassinated. It's interesting how when it seemed he was going to try to do things the right way the second time around he ended up assassinated. Malcolm X was gunned down on February 21, 1965 at the Audubon Ballroom in Manhattan. He was about to give a speech addressing a rally of his followers when shots rang out. He was shot 15 times at close range and fell on the stage of the Ballroom where he laid mortally wounded. His followers attempted to help him but it was too late! • 17. Omaha Beach: The Battle Of D-Day Nearly 73 years ago, the invasion that tore Hitler apart turned the tide of World War II substantially in America's favor; within hours of men first hitting Omaha Beach, beach landing had a new meaning. After months of meeting, planning, training, supplying, and deceiving German forces, the largest joint–invasion force humanity had ever seen shipped off for their objective. For the Americans this included conquering Omaha and Utah Beaches. (Ambrose 325) Omaha Beach stood as a significant landing site because without a landing at Omaha, Utah and Gold Beaches would have a chasm between them, exposing their flank, even though Allied planners loathed landing on Omaha (321). Omaha Beach on the coast of Normandy represents the sacrifice, horror, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To motivate the men, Colonel Charles Canham yelled, "Get the hell off this damn beach and go kill some Germans[,]" then charged up to the cliff edge (Ambrose 344). To scale the hundred foot cliffs, infantrymen used rocket–fired grappling hooks, portable ladders, and even an extension ladder loned by London's Fire Department. As infantrymen scaled and secured the cliffs, Nazi defenders fought back with small arms such as rifles and pistols. Men who came in on the last waves met this unsuppressed fire. (Vogt 4) Ernest Hemingway, a World War I veteran and writer, came in on the seventh wave as a correspondent for Collier's Magazine (Ambrose 478). Reporter A. J. Liebling of the New Yorker also covered the invasion. A few days after D–Day, Liebling climbed the bluff for his first time. He stated, "The trenches were deep, narrow, and so convoluted that an attacking force at any point could be fired on from several directions. Important knots in the system, like the command post and mortar emplacements, were of concrete. The command post was sunk at least twenty–five feet into the ground and was faced with brick on the inside. The garrison had slept in underground bomb proofs, with timbered ceilings and wooden floors. It looked like a regular Maginot Line." ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Applying Standardized Terminology in Nursing Essay Applying Standardized Terminologies in Practice Chamberlain College of Nursing NR 512: Nursing Informatics Fall 2014 Introduction As a result of the introduction of computer technology and the combination of evidence–based practice in nursing; standardization of terminologies has become imperative in the classification of nursing diagnosis, interventions and expected outcomes. The most popular and successful systems are the North American Nursing Diagnosis Association International (NANDA–I), Nursing Outcomes Classification (NOC), and Nursing Intervention Classification (NIC) (de Lima Lopes, de Barros, & Marlene Michel, 2009). Nurses should take care to select the proper outcomes to ensure optimum care is provided to patients with CHF. The plan of care is dependent on the nursing diagnosis and the desired nurse–sensitive outcomes. The priority NOC outcome for the diagnosis of CHF is Fluid Balance and Fluid Overload Severity. Other related NOC outcomes are Knowledge: Cardiac Disease Management, Knowledge: Energy conservation, Knowledge: Medication, Knowledge: Prescribed Activity, Knowledge: Treatment, and Knowledge: Weight Management (Johnson et al., 2012). These are only a select few of the multiple outcomes available; care should be modified as the disease progresses through the problems which evolves over the lifetime of patients diagnoses with CHF. Once all these determinants are established, the nurse will be prepared to determine which level of NOC is essential to effectively manage the disease. Nursing Intervention Classification Nursing interventions are focused on nursing behaviors to guide the patient in the direction of the most preferred outcome (Johnson et al., 2012). Fluid management, fluid/electrolyte management, and hypervolemia management are the major interventions in effective management of CHF. Fluid management is the most difficult intervention for all patients suffering from CHF. Evaluation of the patient's ability to make the appropriate lifestyle changes required to ... • 29. Battle of Normandy Essay One of the most significant encounters of World War II was the Battle of Normandy (the first day of which is commonly referred to as D–Day). Nearly three million soldiers were deployed for the invasion. Those deployed consisted mainly of American and British soldiers, however Canadian, French, Polish, Belgian, and Czech forces were represented as well (Jensen). The battle was fought in an effort to gain European ground and to reduce the German potential for overrunning Russia (Lucas). The Battle of Normandy was significant in that it was the turning point of World War II, incurred heavy casualties on each side, and was the greatest amphibious landing in history (Cohen). Thousands of large still spikes (known as hedgehogs) were also sunk into the sand to halt the progress of enemy tanks (Newark 145). Allied troops readied themselves for the assault. The attack on Normandy had been pushed to June fifth, 1944; however the forecast on June third predicted unfavorable conditions due to unusually high winds. The invasion ultimately took place on June 6th, 1944 (D–Day) (Cohen). The first troops deployed into battle were paratroopers. Over thirteen thousand U.S. paratroopers were dropped by an armada of C–47s behind German lines before dawn. Their mission was to seize bridges, disrupt communications, and prevent German soldiers from reinforcing the Normandy beaches as the Allied assault hit the coastline (Alberecht). Heavy cloud coverage made for difficult navigation and forced many of the paratroopers to jump blind. This resulted in them being scattered over a 100–square mile radius. Thirty–five percent of these soldiers landed at their designated drop point, while many others died when they landed in fields flooded by the Germans. Despite all of this, the remaining troops were able to secure their intended positions (Dry). The next phase in the Battle of Normandy was the storming of the beaches. A fleet of 4,000 ships carrying 176,000 men set sail. The chosen landing area was east of the Cotentin Peninsula in Normandy along the beaches. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Perhaps the boats taking soldiers across the channel. What comes to my mind is the bravery of the soldiers under fire. If you think that's interesting, then stick around. I'll give you an in depth look at what happened at Omaha Beach on that fateful day. Omaha beach was the biggest D–Day invasion site at six miles wide. It the second most–western beach, with Utah Beach being farthest to the west. The attack began on June 6, 1944. (Drez) Omaha Beach saw the fiercest fighting. It had a 12 foot tall sea wall. This was a very long stretch of beach near the Cherbourg peninsula, bordered by Utah Beach and Gold Beach. The 1st and 29th American infantry divisions landed here on June 6, 1944 at approximately 6.30 A.M. The landscape of the beach and surrounding area made it easy to defend, but very difficult to attack. Facing the shore were large cliffs with multiple machine gun emplacements and bunkers looking down towards it. Between the bunkers was barely any cover for the soldiers. This brings up the question: Why did the Allies attack it? There are many reasons. First, the Allies needed a way to link up Utah to Gold and the rest of the British sector. Utah was needed for the capture of Cherbourg, and Gold was needed to put the Mulberry harbor in place. If these did not get linked to each other, the soldiers on each front wouldn't be able to communicate effectively. Second, the Allied needed to make sure the Germans couldn't regroup and counterattack. A counterattack at that stage would be terrible for the Allies because they had not landed much supplies yet and had sustained a lot of casualties. Taking Omaha would prevent this from happening. Finally, Omaha covered the most land. This was essential for capturing the most possible towns, cities, and communication hubs. In spite of all the difficulties, the Allies took the cliffs at around 10 A.M. Over the course of these 4 hours, the General of the Army Omar ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The next step will then be the evaluation of the disease status of the patient. Other diseases may have a negative effect to the ability of the heart to pump blood to the various parts of the body and this step will enable the nurse to discover which disease is causing a negative effect to the heart. The evaluation of the family status will reveal any conflicts that may be causing the heart failure while at the same time provide an understanding of the degree of effectiveness of therapeutic regimen management. Through this data, the nurse will be in a position to determine the patient's current status and aid in determining the level of outcomes that is required to manage the disease effectively. Standards And Terminology Assignment : Nursing Standards/Terminology Assignment Nursing is a field that requires all people involved in a patient's care to be able to speak the same language, and to understand what is begin done to improve each patient's outcome. There is no room for error or misinterpretation. This is the reason that it is critical to implement standards for nursing terminology. The Center for Nursing Classification and Effectiveness (CNC) is the organization responsible for ongoing research and development of the Nursing Interventions Classification and the Nursing Outcomes Classification (Center for Nursing Classification and Effectiveness, n.d.). The Nursing Interventions Classification and the Nursing Outcomes Classification, are standardized nursing terminologies focused on nursing treatments and patient outcomes for use across settings and specialties (Center for Nursing Classification and Effectiveness, n.d.). Both nursing classifications are recognized by the American Nurses' Association. Nursing Interventions Classification (NIC) is a standardized set of interventions that are used in all fields of nursing (Bulecheck, Butcher, Dochterman, Wagner, 2013). Because the interventions are standardized, any nursing specialty will know what was performed on the patient by the care provider. This includes all care areas including; psychological, psychosocial, illness treatment, illness prevention, health promotion, community, family and indirect care (Bulecheck et al., 2013). Nursing ... Essay about The Strategy Of The Allies On D-Day In the years since 1945, it has become increasingly evident that the alliance between the British and the United States was often in disagreement over the correct strategy to insure the final defeat of the Axis powers. Early on, both British and American staffs could agree that Germany represented a greater military threat than Japan, but they did not often see eye to eye on the strategy that would most efficiently defeat them. The Americans were early and persistent advocates of a direct strategy, a cross–channel attack that would first destroy German military in the West, and then drive deep into the heart of industrial Germany to end the war. As the day progressed, this prospect seemed more and more likely until the naval commander released the destroyers to provide support to the troops on the beaches and on top of the bluffs. The units that were supposed to come ashore before the first wave were special tanks called DD, or Duplex Drive, tanks. These tanks, especially in the case of Omaha Beach, either sank before or were destroyed as they came ashore. The loss of these tanks meant that the troops landing on Omaha Beach would not have any close support from heavy weapons. ONce the troops began to land, this became a serious problem which the destroyers of the Allied armada solved for the troops on the beach. Destroyers would take turns cruising in as close as they could and then would proceed to provide fire support for the besieged troops by blasting machine gun and 88 mm gun emplacements with their five–inch guns. This fire support was crucial to the formation of a beachhead on Omaha Beach, in doing so, preventing the Allied invasion on Omaha Beach from being thrown back and possibly ending the invasion of France in defeat. Although both films begin slowly 'Saving Private Ryan' gets started a lot quicker and has a faster pace throughout the whole film. After the man has collapsed to the floor the camera zooms into his eyes and the scene changes. It focuses on another mans face with the caption 'Dog Green sector Omaha Beach June 6th 1944.' This is a flashback and a complete contrast from the cemetery. It's very loud and the colours are grey and dark. The camera then focuses on the man's shaking hands and the men around him who are clearly nervous, praying or being sick; Spiel burg is determined to show from the start that the war is not glamorous or a game. You see how stormy it is and how many boats there are approaching the beach. Bullets start straight away and people are killed before they have even got off the boats. When they start going in to the water the camera does a number of underwater shots whilst bullets fire past them. It is as if the camera is seeing through the eyes of one of the soldiers, making you feel very involved in the struggle. The water becomes clouded with blood and at one point the camera bobs up and down in the water, seeming like a drowning man. All of this adds to making the viewer feel like they are right there with them making it quite personal. When they get on the beach it focuses again on John Miller who ... • 93. The Autobiography Of Malcolm X Do something about it. Everyone has problems from struggles in life. Malcolm X told his life story of how he overcame in his autobiography simply called The Autobiography of Malcolm X as told to Alex Haley. His life changed the world historically, socially, and especially politically by taking a stand against racism of all kinds which still exists in today's modern standards. Using his personal life experience with racism towards African–Americans, Malcolm spreads the word on equality for all with a realistic tone that inspires trust in him. Malcolm X reaches all kinds of people in an effort to voice his thoughts on equality for all using rhetorical and persuasive techniques for a more effective message. From the beginning, the story Malcolm X tells uses a tone of realism and relatability to establish a dominant impression upon the reader's mind. An example of this tone is when Malcolm, at a young age, accepts his ultimate fate that had just befallen his father. Malcolm tells Alex that It has always been my belief that I, too, will die by violence. I have done all that I can to be prepared (4). The definitiveness he says this with is not an attempt at making readers feel empathy for him, but to appeal to logic by presenting this as a fact of the kind of world he lives in. When Malcolm chooses to state die by violence (4) instead of describing what kind of violence or with more emotion, he gets the reader past the emotional aspect of his belief with this stolid diction ... • 97. The Omaha Beach Scene In Steven Spielberg's Saving Private... Some movies involve a certain scene in which the significance to the film's key ideas is prominently displayed, and many will argue that the Omaha beach scene in Steven Spielberg's Saving Private Ryan is a perfect example of one of these scenes. Spielberg uses many examples of both visual and aural techniques to allow the audience to help recognise the challenges faced by Captain Miller and his men. The scene takes place on a beach on the coast of Normandy in France, as US troops attempt to mount an assault on the beach. Spielberg masterfully displays the idea of shock and despair, while maintaining a degree of reality during the scene. This means the audience can open their mind to something that they would not normally think about – the harsh ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This allows the first images of all of the characters to be a more personal one, and the viewers can clearly see the nervousness and despair in some of their faces. The viewer can easily assume that these men are being herded into extreme peril, and the medium shots of their faces reinforce the way that they feel at that moment in time – albeit a fearful and apprehensive mindset. Spielberg does not let this be the only indication of how the characters feel however, and he accompanies these endowing shots with close ups of the soldiers, and more specifically Captain Miller himself. We are first shown a close up shot of Miller's hand, clearly trembling as he undoes the lid on his canteen, showing us the nervousness that was clearly felt by those involved. The shaking hand is masterfully utilised by the director to provide us with a shocking contrast to the soldiers that we are expecting in war films – those brave young men, filled with enthusiasm and confident they they will walk away from any situation unharmed. This single close up, in combination with the prevailing medium shots, is highly effective in illustrating the directors overall purpose – to show the audience the harsh realities of war, displaying the shock of those involved to us as the viewers. We realise how bad the conditions were during this event, and how draining and painful it must have been for all involved. The audience feels sympathy for the men, for the hardships they faced, and for their clearly evident ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 101. A Summary Of The Ponca Tribe Great Plains tribes share a history of events in the late 19th century. This essay focuses on the Ponca tribe and the trial of Standing Bear, one of their chiefs. Other tribes experienced similar incidents of callous disregard for legal rights and struggles to accept their fate of losing their tribal lands and relocating to Indian Territory that barely sustained the people and shattered tribal customs and practices. It is also a story of help provided by white Americans to resolve conflicts and restore the Ponca to their rightful land (Brennan, Authors Note). The travails of the Ponca tribe are typical of 19th century U.S.–Indian relations experienced by Native Americans. Discussion The Ponca Story The Ponca signed several treaties with the United States after a 1817 peace treaty: a trade agreement in 1825 and land cession in 1858 and 1865 to ensure military protection and economic assistance. In the 1860s and 1870s, the Ponca almost starved after droughts, unproductive bison hunts and constant threats to the Ponca by the Sioux threatened their existence. Rather than honor treaty obligations, the U.S. gave Ponca land to the Sioux in 1868 that included all of Dakota Territory (van de Logt). In 1877, Indian tribes, including the Ponca, were ordered to move to Indian Territory in the south. After ten chiefs visited the new location and found the situation unsustainable for farming or grazing, eight walked back and stopped at the Otoe and Omaha reservations. A letter ... The Omaha Tribe lived near present – day Nebraska and parts of Iowa; however, the Omaha Tribe is most known for being native to Nebraska. This tribe is still on a reservation in Macy, Nebraska today. This tribe is in Nebraska because when the Europeans arrived to North America, they drove out the Omaha Tribe along with many other Plains Indians Tribes. Today, the Omaha Tribe consists of around 6,000 members. The Omaha Tribe was a unique tribe mainly because of what they practiced. The Omaha Tribe practiced polygamy, which was the practice of one man having multiple spouses. In the Omaha Tribe, the maximum number of wives that a man could have was three. Their [the Omaha Tribe] religion was associated with the practice of medicine, and with their war customs, and with their gentile systems (https://www.accessgenealogy.com/native/omaha–tribe.htm). Originally, the Omaha Tribe commonly lived in bark longhouse villages. However, they then started to become accustomed more to living in tepees, and that is what they mostly still live in today. Only men were selected to lead the tribe until 1880. Men from the Omaha Tribe commonly wore leggings and buckskin shirts with breechcloth. The wore moccasins on their feet. • 121. The American Dream The American Dream is an idea which is commonly interpreted as working towards a dream or aspiration one has until it has been achieved. This idea is so significant in American society because it encourages people to elevate themselves in society and to aspire to become something great. In theory, this concept is a great model to live by and to encourage a nation to propel themselves into their own unique ideas of success. Even if it is difficult and there are many barriers that exist and have existed, those who have continued to pursue a passion or movement have always seemed to succeed. American culture is full of real and fictional Rags to Riches stories because it is always a real option and possibility to pursue in American society. Many of the people who have their own rags to riches stories include Warren Buffett, Elon Musk, and Oprah Winfrey. From any limitation which anyone has faced, there always has seemed to be someone who has risen up from those struggles and prejudices in order to fulfil their interpretation of the American Dream. Many people are able to fulfill the American Dream from many backgrounds, but all had the same ambitions to pursue ones dream. A good example which shows that barriers do not define one's ability to pursue their dreams is Warren Buffett. Buffett was born in the American midwest during the later parts of the Great Depression in which he was commonly exposed to poverty, and in his early life was poor himself. In his youth, Buffett ... Computer–mediated communication theory is defined as a type of human communication that occurs through the use of two or more electronic devices. Human–computer interaction involves the study, planning, design, and uses of communication between people and computers. The computer serves as the network for the communication between the two individuals. There is a source of information that is sent by the sender through the network, also known as the source of noise, to the receiver to reach its destination (Human–Computer Interaction, n.d.).
