Space-Age Performance:
When new lightweight pressure vessels
were needed for the NASA Space
programmes, Lincoln Composites, USA led
the way. The technology has been used for
mission critical applications like Aircraft
emergency power, Ejection systems,
Skylab gas cylinders, Space Shuttle
high pressure containment & Satellite
propulsion systems. Today there is a similar
requirement for earthbound alternate fuel
vehicles, and the Hexagon Composites
group provides the right solutions to the
global market. With 50 years of experience
in advanced composites, the customer gets
the most reliable product with the longest
and safest history in the industry.
Experts in Development and Manufacturing
Lincoln Composites and Ragasco offer the
TUFFSHELL®, TITAN™ & LIGHTSTORE™ Type
4 composite cylinders are manufactured by
computer controlled, high-speed filament winding
process developed and refined over 5 decades.
With more than 150,000 cylinders mounted to
road vehicles worldwide, these products represent
the international bench mark for high quality and
light weight cylinders, outcompeting steel in both
performance and cost.
TUFFSHELL®, TITAN™ & LIGHTSTORE™ cylinders
have a high-density polymeric liner that offers
superior resistance to corrosion, stress cracking
and cyclic fatigue. The patented interlocking of
the liner to the boss interface provides a leak
proof seal between the plastic liner and the metal
end bosses.
3. The cylinders have a structural shell wound from
a hybrid of high strength carbon fibre blended
with tough glass filaments. Combining these
fibres with the proprietary resin systems provides
outstanding toughness and durability against UV
and significantly enhances the impact damage
tolerance and mitigating damage from chemical
or environmental attack as well as abrasion from
improper handling or accidents.
TUFFSHELL® fuel cylinders from Lincoln
Composites can be used for storage of Compressed
Natural Gas and Hydrogen up to 1050 bar
service pressure for use in buses, trucks and gas
transportation.
LIGHTSTORE™ fuel cylinders from Ragasco are
used for CNG applications in passenger cars and
Light Commercial Vehicles being designed to fit
into available space.
The TITAN™, the world`s largest composite high pressure cylinder reduces cost for road transportation of
CNG and other gases often by more than 50%.
