BEESWAX CANDLE MAKING KIT
With this kit you can make between 4 and 8 beeswax candles
without using heat. This makes them ideal for making candles
quickly or as a supervised project for children.
To make one pillar candle
1. Lay the wick along a short edge of a beeswax sheet
2. Carefully roll the edge across the wick making sure that it is
securely gripped
3. Keep rolling as tightly as possible, checking that the two
ends are reasonably flat
4. When you get to the end, press the edge of the sheet into
the body of the candle. If the sheet is warm enough it
should stick without problems. Trim the wick to around
1cm.
5. Take a small scrap of beeswax and wrap it around the wick
to help it light
6. Decorate with ribbon.
To make a spiral candle
1. Use a pair of scissors or a knife to cut the beeswax sheet
diagonally from corner to corner. The triangles you end
up with can each be used to create a spiral candle
2. Place the wick across the short straight-edge and wind
the wax sheet in the same way as for the pillar candle.
Trim the wick to around 1cm
3. Take a small scrap of beeswax and wrap it around the
wick to help it light
To make a spiral “flower” candle
1. Use a pair of scissors or a knife to cut the beeswax sheet
diagonally from corner to corner. The triangles you end
up with can each be used to create a spiral candle
2. Cut a series of small slits in the diagonal edge
3. Place the wick across the short straight-edge and wind
the wax sheet in the same way as for the pillar candle.
Trim the wick to around 1cm
4. Take a small scrap of beeswax and wrap it around the
wick to help it light
5. Pull out the “petals” to make your flower.

‘CUP OF TEA’CANDLE MAKING KIT
This kit contains everything you need (except the cup itself and standard
kitchen equipment) to make a Tea Cup container candle.
What you will need to make a tea cup candle
● an old tea cup or similar container (not provided)
● 150g wax
● wick & wick holder (eg a pencil)
● metal wick tab
● a little blutack
● dye (depending on depth of colour required)
You also need two saucepans (one large, one small). These can be old or cheap but
mustn’t be used subsequently for food. Finally, you’ll need scissors, kitchen scales
and a set of pliers. Note: you can watch us make this candle on YouTube by typing
http://myoc.co/teacupvid into your browser.
Instructions
1. Fill your larger saucepan to a third of its volume with water and bring it to the
boil. Place the smaller saucepan inside
2. Add the wax to the smaller pan to melt, stirring occasionally
3. In the meantime, cut a piece of wick so that it’s a few centimetres longer than
the cup is deep
4. Once the wax has melted, drop the wick into the pan, leave it for a second or
two and use the stirrer to pull it out. It’ll set almost immediately so pull it
straight to make your waxed wick
5. Take the waxed wick and pass it through the hole in a tab so that the tab is
exactly on one end of the wick. Use pliers to firmly squeeze the collar closed.
6. Add dye to the wax and stir. Once it’s fully melted, it’s time for the first pour.
First Pour
7. Pour the melted wax carefully into the cup so that it forms a layer around 1cm
deep
8. Now, drop the tab on the end of the wick into the bottom of the cup so that it’s
central. Place the pencil across the cup , pull the wick straight and loop it over
the pencil, fixing it in place with blutack.
9. Leave to set for around 10 minutes so to secure the wick in the bottom of the
cup.
Second Pour
10. Warm the wax in the pan again. If you’re using scent, this is the time to add it to
your wax
11. Pour it into the cup, filling to around a centimetre below the lip - you must leave
a small amount of wax remaining in the pan; around 10% is fine
12. Pull the wick gently to make sure it’s straight and secure it with blutack.
13. Leave to set fully - this will take at least a couple of hours
14. A dip will form around the wick after it cools, so reheat the remaining wax and
refill the candle to the same level as before.Kit & Instructions ©2014 MakingYourOwnCandles Ltd
FLOWER TART CANDLE MAKING KIT
This kit contains everything you need (except standard kitchen
equipment) to make cute flower tart candles. This is just one of
a huge range of UK-made kits and materials available at
www.MakingYourOwnCandles.co.uk.
Wax should never be heated over a naked flame or it might
ignite. Never leave melting wax unattended and take great
care when handling molten wax.
When you come to burn your candles, make sure you exercise
care and never leave them unattended.
What you will need to make 2 flower candles
● 40g wax
● 2 wick & tabs
● ½g dye
● 2 flower tart moulds
You also need two saucepans (one large, one small). These can
be old or cheap but mustn’t be used subsequently for food.
Finally, you’ll need scissors, kitchen scales and a set of pliers.
Instructions
1. Fill your larger saucepan to a third of its volume with water
and bring it to the boil. Place the smaller saucepan inside
2. Add the wax to the smaller pan to melt, stirring
occasionally
3. Once the wax has melted, add the dye and stir until it melts
4. If you’re using scent, add it immediately before you pour
into the moulds
5. Pour the melted wax carefully into each mould
6. Now, drop a wick & tab assembly into each mould, making
sure it settles in the centre
7. Leave to set fully - this will take at least a couple of hours
8. Gently tap the candle out of the mould once it has fully set

prefer to “roll your own”, the Beeswax Kit contains three options to make
gorgeous pillar candles.

Beeswax Candle Making Kit

  • 1. BEESWAX CANDLE MAKING KIT With this kit you can make between 4 and 8 beeswax candles without using heat. This makes them ideal for making candles quickly or as a supervised project for children. To make one pillar candle 1. Lay the wick along a short edge of a beeswax sheet 2. Carefully roll the edge across the wick making sure that it is securely gripped 3. Keep rolling as tightly as possible, checking that the two ends are reasonably flat 4. Figure 1: laying the wick on the sheet ‘CUP OF TEA’CANDLE MAKING KIT This kit contains everything you need (except the cup itself and standard kitchen equipment) to make a Tea Cup container candle. What you will need to make a tea cup candle ● an old tea cup or similar container (not provided) ● 150g wax ● wick & wick holder (eg a pencil) ● metal wick tab ● a little blutack ● dye (depending on depth of colour required) You also need two saucepans (one large, one small). These can be old or cheap but mustn’t be used subsequently for food. Finally, you’ll need scissors, kitchen scales and a set of pliers. Note: you can watch us make this candle on YouTube by typing http://myoc.co/teacupvid into your browser. Instructions 1. Fill your larger saucepan to a third of its volume with water and bring it to the boil. Place the smaller saucepan inside 2. Add the wax to the smaller pan to melt, stirring occasionally 3. In the meantime, cut a piece of wick so that it’s a few centimetres longer than the cup is deep 4. Once the wax has melted, drop the wick into the pan, leave it for a second or two and use the stirrer to pull it out. It’ll set almost immediately so pull it straight to make your waxed wick 5. Take the waxed wick and pass it through the hole in a tab so that the tab is exactly on one end of the wick. Use pliers to firmly squeeze the collar closed. 6. Add dye to the wax and stir. Once it’s fully melted, it’s time for the first pour. First Pour 7. Pour the melted wax carefully into the cup so that it forms a layer around 1cm deep 8. Now, drop the tab on the end of the wick into the bottom of the cup so that it’s central. Place the pencil across the cup , pull the wick straight and loop it over the pencil, fixing it in place with blutack. 9. Leave to set for around 10 minutes so to secure the wick in the bottom of the cup. Second Pour 10. Warm the wax in the pan again. If you’re using scent, this is the time to add it to your wax 11. Pour it into the cup, filling to around a centimetre below the lip - you must leave a small amount of wax remaining in the pan; around 10% is fine 12. Pull the wick gently to make sure it’s straight and secure it with blutack. 13. Leave to set fully - this will take at least a couple of hours 14. A dip will form around the wick after it cools, so reheat the remaining wax and refill the candle to the same level as before.Kit & Instructions ©2014 MakingYourOwnCandles Ltd
