This document provides a summary of a portfolio over three weekly periods. In the first week, the author registered for the stock trading platform and outlined a plan to initially invest 40% of their portfolio, allocating funds between short and long-term investments. They planned to buy stocks in BABA and AAL. In the second week, the author provided an update on purchases of AAL, BABA, FB and XEL. While some stocks lost value, AAL provided a dividend. In the third week, AAL was sold for a gain but other stocks continued losing value, prompting the author to consider selling additional holdings.

5. Write a two- to three-page, double-spaced paper that describes
how your portfolio has changed since it was created. Be sure to
address the following questions: Has your portfolio grown or
shrunk? What factors contributed to these changes? What was
your investment strategy? Why did you make changes and what
did they yield? Given what you know now about investing and
where your portfolio is now, what would you have done
differently? This short paper will serve as your mid-term exam.
Stock Trak Report – Week 3
11/13/2016
The world woke up to the news that Donald Trump was the
president-elect of the United States of America on November 8,
2016. The news came as a shock since the media and poll had
predicted a landslide win for his Democratic opponent Hillary
Clinton. This was largely due to the controversial nature and
campaign policies of the Republican. After the news, the major
share indexes were hugely down, where the S&P 500 and the
Dow Jones went down by around 2.5%. However after some
hours, the shares started to rise and by the time the markets
were opened, the Dow Jones and the S&P 500 were flat. By the
end of that day, the Dow Jones was up by 1.4% and the S&P
500 1.11% (Berger, 2016).
The stock market behavior defied investor’s predictions. For
instance, Citibank had predicted that Trump’s victory would
result to decline of the stock markets by 3-5%. Investors
perceived that Trump’s win would have the same effect as
Brexit had on UK’s stock markets. However, on the revision of
Trump’s economic policies, they will have a positive impact on
the markets. He plans on lowering corporate taxes by 20% and
reduce the regulatory burden on corporations. Trump’s policies
will definitely improve the indexes stocks futures.
6. This week my portfolio is keep losing. So I made some change
about my portfolio. My plan for AAL is income oriented with
short term purchase. So I sold AAL at $42.62 on 11/10/2016
with $4,825.00 earning. My plan for next week is sold BABA to
stop losing and hold others equities. I will purchase one more
energy equities if the market going stable.

Stock Trak Report- Week 2
11/6/2016
As I planned last week, I bought the AAL and BABA on
Monday at my expected range of price. Although they both lost
at the end of week, I got $250 dividend on 11/3/2016. I bought
Facebook (FB) at $129.33 on 11/1/2016, but it kept losing till
last Friday end at price $120.75. I bought Xcel Energy (XEL)
at $40.51. Because the weather is turning cool recently, people
will use more electric energy to keep the room warm. So I will
keep it for long term investment.
There exist six major stock investment strategies, which
many fund managers utilize in their operations namely dividend
investing, contrarian investing, and technical analysis. Other
strategies are fundamental analysis, bottom-up investing, and
top-down investing. Importantly, fundamental analysis is among
the most common strategies that are used since it leads to high
ROI although it involves an in-depth complex process. Hence,
the fundamental analysis stock investment strategy entails the
evaluation of all the necessary factors, which affect the
performance of an investment directly. For a stock, the process
requires examining all the entire financial information of the
7. company including its profit margins, accounting books, break-
even point, and balance sheets among other factors.
Additionally, the strategy may also involve meeting with
the competitors, customers, suppliers, employees, and
executives of the company to acquire knowledge about its
operations, as well as future objectives. As such, it requires
analyzing the company’s management to comprehend its driving
force, mission statement, and vision statement. Thus, it involves
performing a critical and extensive analysis about a particular
company, which assists in making well-informed financial
investment decisions that will lead to high ROI.

Stock Trak Repot-Week 1
In 10/24/2016, I registered on the website Stock-Trak. I
didn’t buy any securities before in the United States but I have
some experience in Chinese Stock market. So I just made a
specific plan during this week. I will invest 40% of my portfolio
next week because I am not familiar with the US Stock Market.
For these $400,000, I will put about $250,000 in long term
investment and the rest for short investment. Because to lower
the investment risk, I would like to use diversification. As the
general rule mentioned in textbook chapter 5, “don’t put all
your eggs in one basket.
For the short term investment, I plan to buy BABA at $98-
$103. Because Nov.11 is the Single’s Day in China, many
online stores in Taobao website (established by Group BABA)
will offer some coupons just like the Black Friday in the United
States. For example, the Chinese online shopping
mall Taobao sold 19 billion CNY (about 3 billion USD) of
goods on November 11, 2012 (Wiki). I believe that will raise
the price of BABA.
For the long term investment, I plan to buy American
Airlines Group Inc.(AAL) on from 11/1/2016 to 11/3/2016. That
means I will buy this stocks serval times during these three
8. days. Because on last Friday 10/28/2016, an American Airlines
(AAL.O) jet engine that failed seconds before takeoff in a fiery
runway accident at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport flung
broken turbine parts as far as half a mile from the
scene(Reuters). I believe I will catch the low point of the AAL
stock price by the negative impact of the news.
