The MBA World Summit is about shaping a Global Leadership Community. Since its inauguration in 2014, it has prided itself as the pinnacle international gathering for the global MBA community. Year by year, 100 of the most exceptional and rigorously selected MBA talents from the top business schools worldwide (out of more than 3.000 applicants) are invited to attend this exclusive conference.
All of them will be involved in co-creating the agenda of the four-day Summit, which focuses on the three pillars of nurturing a collaborative culture, facilitating high-impact exchange and championing interdisciplinary approaches to global business and societal problems. Attendees debate the most pressing issues of our times as well as future challenges and engage in a vibrant best-practice sharing.

1. The Pinnacle Summit of the
Global Leadership Community
March 1st
- 4th
, 2017 | Berlin
Official
Program
2. DEAR FRIENDS
the MBA World Summit 2017 is just around the
corner and we are exhilarated to hereby relea-
se the official program which is more exciting
than ever before.
Once again, it will engage the most inspiring
MBA students hailing from the finest teaching
institutions around the world as well as superb
leaders and organisations representing the ma-
nifold stakeholder groups of all walks of life.
Together, they will collaboratively discuss the
pressing issues of our time, challenge the as-
sumptions of a more-than-ever complex world,
share courageous visions and push action for-
ward to actively shape a global agenda with a
positive societal impact.
This year the MBA World Summit is hosted by a
city that maybe unlike any other place on this
planet is standing tall as a symbol for the dest-
ructive consequences of disjuncture and isola-
tion and the awe-inspiring power of unification
and collaboration at the same time. The fall
of the Berlin wall was nothing short of a tur-
ning point in the history of humanity that has
marked our era and moved the world closer to-
gether. Today, however, the feeling that we are
again at an inflection point in history is more
and more prevalent. In this vein, we could not
ask for a more suitable venue to come together
to engage in open-minded and vivacious dis-
cussions about the future of our world - each of
us being ambassadors of different perspectives
and ideas.
We are very much looking forward to welcome
the 2017 batch of charismatic, dynamic and vi-
sionary MBAs who successfully passed our rigo-
rous multi-staged selection process during the
last months and invite them to join the Global
Leadership Community (GLC) comprising all
Summit participants – past, present and future.
Since its inauguration in 2014 the GLC is deeply
anchored in the believe that positive innova-
tion and progress are always created when
the best of all disciplines come together in a
trustful-creative atmosphere and share their
experiences, expertise, goals and passions. It
embraces a philosophy of inclusive physical
encounter in a fast-paced digital world as a
forceful enabler for the creation of actionable
meaning and meaningful actions.
The sustained commitment to continuously
strive to make a positive impact is the common
denominator, and the diversity and integrati-
ve spirit of the GLC the core of its impactful
power. Within a short time span the GLC has
grown to a flourishing and truly global com-
munity. Today, GLC’ler regularly meet in over
30 so called City Circles forging strong bonds,
launching ground-up initiatives and engaging
in a vibrant exchange being at the forefront
of global discussions and innovation across all
societal sectors. In the years to come the GLC
will be complemented by physical hubs loca-
ted at hot spots around the globe to further
accelerate its growth and momentousness. Af-
ter successfully establishing the first of these
hubs, the “QX-Manor”, in Frankfurt, Germany –
which has become a “home-away-from-home”
and a lively place of meaningful encounters in
no time – the next location will be opened in
New York City.
The capstone event of our community remains
the MBA World Summit with its highly stimula-
ting environment. To emphasize the unfolding
impact of the GLC we expanded the Summit
concept by an “impact day” throughout which
the MBAs will participate in social expeditions
to become actively involved in crucial local
and international projects, and take part in
(an extended version of) the Big Idea Lounge
where entrepreneurial ideas and business op-
portunities are forged together with European
Investors and the movers-and-shakers of the
Berlin and German start-up scene.
We are eternally thankful for the ongoing sup-
port of all our partners and alumni making the
MBA World Summit possible. We are certain
that the Summit will again be enriching – pro-
fessionally and personally – and of immense
value for everyone participating.
We could not be more excited to meet you all
in Berlin!
Cheers!

5. THE SPOTS in detail
Get a first impression of vi-
brant Berlin and take a look
behind the scenes of one of
the world’s most innovative tech companies. Our Partner com-
pany Amazon invites us to kick-off the summit with a casual
get-together in their offices in the bustling heart of Berlin. In a
surrounding where Amazon’s employees shape the future of digi-
tal commerce, our Welcome Reception is a perfect „ice-breaker“
where participants meet for the first time in an inspiring setting
to get to know each other and engage in first conversations.
12 APOSTEL
The Twelve Apostle's Restaurant is
a feast for both the eyes and your
tummy located right in Berlin
Mitte. Beautiful frescos line the
interior walls, niches and round
arches and ceiling depicting the
twelve Biblical apostles of Christ,
all this located right at the above ground train rails. The décor is flashy Italian
Renaissance and the atmosphere is usually busy and bustling, not only due to
the unusual location but also the amazing cuisine. The XII Apostel is trendy and
popular because of its novel idea of offering 12 thin base pizza varieties, one
named for each apostle of Jesus Christ.

6. THE BIG IDEA LOUNGE
The „Big Idea Lounge“ gives exceptional MBA entrepreneurs the opportunity to
engage with European Business Angels, VCs and Investors.
Invited are all MBA entrepreneurs who already have founded their own venture or are

but are planning to do so after graduation. Many of these entrepreneurial-minded students

sucessfully boost their own businesses after graduation.
During the event, the participants gather in so called „Ideation Panels“ (IPs), where they
engage into in-depth discussions about on-going business topics among each other to-
gether with investors, industry experts and the who-is-who of Berlin‘s movers and shakers.
Pre-selected investors are invited to host certain Ideation Panels either as panel anchor or
industry expert.
Additionally, seed-staged and further progressed start-ups are able to present their bu-
siness-ideas in a private atmosphere in front of a selected number of European top-level

8. THE SOCIAL EXPEDITIONS
In recent years, societies around the world are changing in an ever-increasing velocity and
volatility. Internationalized cities and countries stand opposite of ingratiating nationalists
movements. Globalization on the one hand faces protectionism on the other hand and open,
liberal as well as multi-cultural societies are opposed to rigorously sealed communities, who
exclude and prosecuted minorities and people with different orientations. For the first time
in its history, the MBA World Summit tries to grabble these challenges by enabling students to
take a deeper look at those socially impactful issues and become actively involved in meaning-
ful local as well as international projects.
For all social-minded MBA students who take part in the social expeditions, the day starts with
an introductory workshop that might offer an promising governmental and societal approach
to tackle issues like poverty, unemployment, exclusion, discrimination or the influx of refuge-
es. Afterwards the students gain first-hand experience by getting engaged with the leadership
of three selected social projects based in Berlin to learn more about their relevant work and
to assist them with solving problems they face due to recent global as well as local challenges.

11. THE PARTNERS
Our deepest gratitude goes to our generous host, the European School of Management and
Technology for providing us with an excellent premise for the MBA World Summit 2017.
Special thanks to Marcel Kalis, Head of Career Services at the ESMT for the amazing support
throughout the entire preparation process.

The MBA World Summit Organizing Committee
THE SPEAKER: NORBERT BISKY
ICONIC ARTIST
AND PROFESSOR
Norbert Bisky is one of the most important
and worldwide recognized contemporary
German Artists. He studied at the Hochschu-
le der Künste in Berlin, were he was a stu-
dent of George Baselitz. Today he has been
solo exhibited in the most prestigious gal-
leries around the world and is included in
ultra premium collections such as Museum of
Modern Art, New York or National Museum of
Contemporary Art, Seoul, South Korea. His
colourful, exuberant and image laden pain-
tings converge the seemingly perfect, bright
and healthy images with the hidden message
of societal issues, death and terror. His art
transmits the instability and contrast that
illustrate our current state of affairs. Bis-
ky has lived through many of the events he
paints: on the edge of the tsunami in Thai-
land, during the attacks on a famous Mumbai hotel or after the sudden death of his younger
sibling. Using powerful colours, he reformulates personal experiences of terror.
Being exposed to Bisky‘s large-scale canvasses is to have a sense of being drawn into the
forceful events they represent. Bisky carries the viewer into the maelstrom of black images
which, like visual storms, open visionary spaces. Dark skies burst wide open. Bodies emerge
into the spotlight of turbulent rampancy. The paintings by the 46-year-old depict the world
from their apocalyptic perspective. Love and death are very close to each other here. At
times, they coincide. Future, past and present occur simultaneously in the lucid paintings.
More than anything, they are biographical.
Three main aspects of Bisky‘s work come to the fore in this context: the martyrdom of love,
the martyrdom of painting and the apocalyptic scenography of the world. Furthermore all
of his paintings contain, in the words of the artist, a religious nucleus. Bisky considers the
religious moment an inalienable part of good painting.
Bisky's impact goes far beyond his art: he was professor at the Geneva University of Art and
Design (HEAD) and is also a guest lecturer and professor for various universities in Switzer-
land, UK and Germany. With his students, he uncovers the questions and problems of our
time and transmits them into art. He deals with questions like the bad side of big data, the
impact of growing energy consumption, implications of increased mobility and many more.
He inspires not only trough controversy, but also trough guidance for putting the current
developments into bold, thought provoking art.
