direction of arrival (DOA) of the signal

A smart antenna is a digital wireless
communications antenna system that takes advantage of diversity
effect at the source (transmitter), the destination (receiver), or
both. Diversity effect involves the transmission and/or reception of
multiple radio frequency (RF) waves to increase data speed and
reduce the error rate.

8. MIMO
In radio, (Multiple-input and Multiple-output) MIMO , is a method for
multiplying the capacity of a radio link using multiple transmit and receive
antennas to exploit multipath propagation.

9. Multipath fading
Multipath signals are received in a terrestrial environment, i.e., where
different forms of propagation are present and the signals arrive at the
receiver from transmitter via a variety of paths. Therefore there would be
multipath interference, causing multi- path fading.
