Tripp Lite provides four different solutions for local, centralized, distributed and remote power management. Remote power management is available separately, but all other solutions are FREE (included on a CD or available as a web download).
Guard Against Data Loss: PowerAlert Local Software automatically saves open files and gracefully shuts down unattended computers during extended blackouts or brownouts. Monitor and Manage Power and UPS Operating Conditions: PowerAlert Local provides real-time reporting of a variety of conditions: input voltage, UPS battery charge and more. Features include scheduling, graphing and alarm notification. Manage a Variety of UPSs: PowerAlert Local is compatible not only with Tripp Lite UPSs, but select competitors' models as well. Best of all, PowerAlert local is FREE, either included on a CD or available as a web download from www.tripplite.com
Use PowerAlert Local Software when you can connect a USB or serial cable between a UPS system and the computer(s) it supports. If you cannot make this cable connection (either because the UPS does not have enough communication ports or is located too far away from the computer), use PowerAlert Shutdown Agent Software instead. PowerAlert Local is also compatible with the following configurations: Multiple UPSs Connected to One Computer (Redundant Protection)--Exclusive Feature! Many users require redundant protection for their critical equipment. Tripp Lite PowerAlert Local is the only UPS software that can coordinate the auto-shutdown and power condition reporting of the multiple UPSs that are part of a redundant configuration. Multiple Computers Connected to One UPS If a UPS has multiple communication ports, PowerAlert Local will provide auto-shutdown for all connected computers.
PowerAlert Shutdown Agent Software is designed to gracefully shut down computers that are not connected to a UPS system with a USB or serial cable. One example of applications that have no direct USB or serial cable connection is where a high-capacity UPS System distributes power (often through a separate distribution panel) to remote computers that are located in a different room or even on a different floor. Another example, is where a computer cannot be connected to a UPS system with a USB or serial cable because the UPS system's communication ports are already being utilized. PowerAlert Shutdown Agent Software allows multiple computers to use existing network cable to "listen" for select events to occur (such as loss of power) with the remotely-located UPS system before executing a graceful unattended shut down.
PowerAlert Shutdown Agent Software provides graceful, automatic shutdown for computers that cannot connect to a UPS system with a USB or serial cable. This application is common for large server racks, where a single UPS system powers multiple servers, but does not have enough communication ports to make a physical USB or serial cable connection with all of them. This application is also common for high-capacity UPSs (either single phase or 3-phase) that distribute power to computers often located too far from the UPS to make a USB or serial cable connection.
PowerAlert Network Management Software allows managers to monitor and control power for up to 250 UPSs or PDUs (and the computers they support) from a single interface. PowerAlert pools all information into a single, sortable, easy-to-read list. Alarm entries include intuitive color coding. Click on any device listing to open up to four device status screens at a time. Managers can choose to access PowerAlert through Tripp Lite's interface or through a third-party network management system (NMS) interface. Includes "quick status" and "drill down detail" views as well as alarm history, alarm elevation and alarm acknowledgement. Allows mass configuration of version 12.04.0040 devices as well as IP address resolution for DHCP-managed devices running PowerAlert Local or SNMPWEBCARD firmware.
PowerAlert Network Management Software allows managers to monitor and control up to 250 UPS systems or PDUs (as well as the computers and equipment they support) from a single interface.
PowerAlert Network Management Software allows managers to remotely control the power to individual outlets on UPS systems or PDUs that feature outlet control capability. By remotely turning power off and on, managers can reboot locked devices, eliminating the need for costly service calls to remote locations. If an extended blackout or brownout occurs, managers can turn off the power to select devices, preserving battery runtime for more critical equipment. Managers can also use PowerAlert's outlet control capability to configure select UPS and PDU models to perform custom startup and shutdown sequences.
PowerAlert Network Management Software saves time and money by reducing deployment time. With PowerAlert, managers can mass-configure multiple, remote UPS System settings from a single location. In addition, managers can set PowerAlert to auto-discover UPSs and PDUs in specific network segments or IP address ranges.
PowerAlert Network Management Software helps managers resolve power issues faster by pooling alarms from all UPS systems and PDUs on the network into a single, sortable, easy-to-read list. Alarm entries feature intuitive color coding: white (normal), yellow (warning) and red (critical). In addition, PowerAlert takes the guesswork out of how to respond to alarms. When managers select a device from the alarm log, the device's real-time power status is displayed along with the alarm's "cause" and recommended "response." PowerAlert delivers alarms through emails and SNMP traps.
The best part about PowerAlert Network Management Software is it is absolutely FREE, included on a CD or available as a web download. Since it is a FREE software-only solution, it can save thousands of dollars compared to competitive solutions which require additional hardware and licensing purchases.
The physical layout of mid- to large-sized companies makes it difficult to monitor and manage communication between a UPS system and a server at the local level. Tripp Lite's Internal SNMP/Web Card solves this common problem by m aking UPS systems or PDUs manageable nodes on the network. By giving each device a unique IP address, the internal card allows UPSs and PDUs to be remotely managed from a central location. The internal card features password protection (for increased security) and is flash-upgradeable (making them easy to manage).
By installing an Internal SNMP/Web Card into a compatible UPS or PDU, managers can monitor and control power to the device from across their facility, across the country or across the globe. The internal card communicates with PowerAlert Software over existing network cabling using TCP/IP. Managers can remotely monitor and control the device using a web browser, Telnet or a third-party SNMP tool interface.
Tripp Lite's WatchDog Software automatically reboots locked-up or poorly performing system service applications, helping ensure 100% availability and profitability for kiosks, web/email servers, security system computers and other remote, unattended systems. Set CPU- and memory-usage thresholds and monitor service performance in one application, fully compatible with most Tripp Lite UPS Systems. Use Tripp Lite's Environmental Sensor with an internal SNMP/Web card to remotely monitor temperature/humidity and contact-closure inputs. The sensor is perfect for monitoring conditions in remote wiring closets, racks and datacenters.
