Mythical Crime watch
Evaluation
For this unit we needed to do our own version of a news report and report on
a crime which we had based on a nursery rhyme. Our group consists of Owen,
Andrew, Rory and I.
Pre-Production
To start off we needed some ideas and we all agreed on it being about
goldilocks in some way. To make it similar to the nursery rhyme’s title which
was goldilocks and the three bears, we decided to twist the title a bit to make
it more authentic and relevant to the task by calling it Goldilocks and the three
assaults. There were also some other characters involved to make it more vast
in variety. We then changed our mind slightly to make the program into a
crime watch type program including reconstructions and interviews with
witnesses but it will still feature goldilocks and the three assaults we called it
Mythical Crime watch. We also thought to film the reconstructions to make it
unique.
Editing
For our filming quite straight forward but when we got the footage back, we all
wanted to make our own one and obviously that was the task. I was able to
make more of a news report by having the BBC one logo as the first thing to
come up on the screen to make it more of a news report. I started the report
with an interview to give everyone some background content about what was
going on. I then went straight into the first reconstruction where it was humpty
dumpty being assassinated by goldilocks from an elevated position, I decided
to make all the reconstructions black and white to separate it from real life and
it just looks cooler, especially when humpty dumptygets shot you can see a

blood splatter which is the only colour you will see apart from the black and
white. I also added the name of the program in the top left corner of the
screen throughout the reconstructions. The second reconstruction occurs
straight after humpty dumpty being assassinated and goldilocks is lying down
in a sniper position trying to kill the three king’s men which she succeeds with
a headshot which again shows a blood splatter to make it look distinct. It
shows the other two kingsmen being shot but not killed which links back to the
interviewed I also added some background voices retelling the interview about
where they got shot.
Conclusion
In conclusion I think my program was a success because it mostly covers all
aspects of a news report, the acting I think worked well judging that we had a
limited amount of time. When it came to editing I think was much better than
the other film that I had to edit, I added more effects visual and audio. I think
what needed to improve when filming was during the interview the camera
work was all over the place but that was about it for the filming side but for
the editing the only flaw during it was that the music I think didn’t really fit but
overall I think it was a success.
