3. WHAT IS SENTENCE FLUENCY?
Sentence Fluency is the rhythm and flow of
the language, the sound of word patterns,
the way in which the writing plays to the ear.
Sentences vary in length, beginnings,
structure, and style, and are so well crafted
that the writer moves through the piece with
ease.
7. EXAMPLE: THE WILD CAFETERIA
The students in the cafeteria were wild.
Many threw food from the table. Some shouted
invectives at the top of their lungs. Soiled trays
littered the floor where students flung them.
Students stood on the tables and danced to
imaginary music. Others burped loudly to
express their dislike of the school fare. One
bold student even yelled at the dean,
demanding that rock music play during lunch.
The dean croaked over the load speaker in a
vain attempt to quiet down the students. Food
continued to splatter on the walls. It was a
typical lunch in the school cafeteria.
