Paying tribute to the tradition of
summer weddings
Summer is always the season of weddings. Residents, family, and friends shared memories during a
June Wedding Celebration, which included a display of wedding dresses spanning more than 100 years
and a “reception” with cake, champagne, live music, and dancing. One of the 15 dresses dated back to
1909. The event was covered by two local TV stations, KX and KFYR.

Event unleashes inner artist
Paint brushes stroked the canvases with precision. The
personality of each artist began to emerge with the
painting.
“I’ve never been an artist before and didn’t think I
could do it!” says Clara Braun (pictured), Touchmark
resident, who participated in the Art Uncorked event.
Part of a program run through Theo Art School, the
event is designed to give everyone, no matter their
skill level, an enriching artist experience. Each person
starts with a blank 16-by-20 canvas, and the instructor
walks the group through the steps to create a unique
masterpiece. The group also enjoyed wine and snacks
while painting.
Sharing her delight and echoing other participants, Clara says, “I love the opportunities Touchmark gives me
to keep active and try things I didn’t think I’d ever do.”
