1. Professional Development Action Plan 1. Provide professional development for the setup and maintenance of teacher webpages through SchoolFusion. As stated in the Campus Technology Integration and Awareness report from week 3, when the staff development was provided at the beginning of the year, the program was not functioning. Allocate time for teachers to design and update webpages each grading period. Next year teachers will update their webpages twice each grading period, with the goal for the following year being weekly updates. 2. Continue to provide professional training on updates for technology used for attendance , lessons plans, student data collection, special education referral processes and paperwork, and grade books. This can be done at the beginning of the school year during regular inservice, and periodically throughout the year, as needed. Ensure all personnel are trained on appropriate technology equipment, such as presentation stations, laptop and desktop computers, printers and scanners. 3. Ensure that all personnel understand and complete the School Technology and Readiness Chart each year, with the following goals: (a) achieving Advanced Tech in all areas within two years, (b) achieving Target Tech in all areas within five years. 4. Provide training for all campus personnel on the 6-8 Technology Application TEKS. Review current practices and implement the best methods for ensuring mastery of 6-8 TA TEKS by all students by the end of grade 8, as referenced in the Texas Long Range Technology Plan, 2006-2020, (p. 75 ) and the Temple Independent School District Improvement Plan (p. 29). Evaluation of Professional Development 1. Evaluation of the webpage professional development will be the review of teacher webpages by the Instructional Technology Specialists, at the appropriate intervals. A survey of teachers, parents, and students will be done to determine the effectiveness of the webpages as a resource and communication device. 2. Conduct an equipment and software audit to ensure all campus personnel have the necessary tools to provide 21st century instruction. The attendance clerk will monitor the completion of attendance records on a daily basis, identifying problems and addressing them as they arise. The Instructional Coaches for each curriculum area will monitor the electronic posting of lesson plans on a weekly basis, addressing issues as they occur. The Principal and Assistant Principal will monitor the use of technology in instruction during walkthroughs and informal, as well as formal observations. 3. The Principal will compile data each year, based on the completion of STaR Charts by the faculty. Individuals who are not advancing in their technology will attend technology professional development to aid them in growth. This will be included in their PDAS professional development plan. 4. As referenced in the TISD District Improvement Plan (p. 29), all students will complete a Keyboarding/Computer Literacy Exit Test in 8th grade. The principal will compile these results, and using a database of TEKS mastery for each student, determine necessary instructional improvements. This can include hiring additional personnel, providing state-of-the-art software and hardware, and requiring additional professional development.
