Writing in Library Journal in August 2010, Eric Hellman noted: “Libraries are so valuable that they attract voracious new competition with every technological advance.” The failure of libraries and library vendors to successfully create systems that meet the full range of legitimate user needs is a major concern. Ken Chad reviews the competitive and strategic imperatives that should lead libraries to a more user focussed approach. Fortunately there are some pragmatic and useful tools that libraries, working with vendors and/or developers, can use to help them develop or acquire better products services. Ken Chad briefly outlines the 'Jobs-To-Be-Done' (JTBD) method which is widely used in business and he has adapted for use in libraries

Understanding The Environment Of Demographics
Understanding The Environment Of Demographics
Christina Valadez
Assignment 1: Advocacy, Lobbying, and Social Movement This module explored the importance of politics in the development of standards that govern human services practices. While many individuals might believe that politics and human services should not exist together, you cannot ignore the fact that political activities influence the way agencies are sustained. This became clearer when funding of human services programs moved from primarily private donations to largely public resource streams. To date, politics at all levels are expected in the everyday practices of human services administrators and service workers. In this assignment, you will further explore and reflect on this concept. Tasks: Using your textbook, the Argosy University online library resources, and the Internet, address the following: Discuss the concepts of advocacy, lobbying, and social movement organizations in terms of their effects on service delivery. Specifically, focus on who engages in advocacy, what types of lobbying directly results in public funding, and how social movement organizations function in their efforts to influence policy. Submission Details: By Saturday, June 13, 2015 , post your responses to this Discussion Area in a minimum of 200 words. Your response should rely upon at least two sources from professional literature. This may include the Argosy University online library resources, relevant textbooks, peer-reviewed journal articles, and websites created by professional organizations, agencies, or institutions (.edu, .org, or .gov). Write in a clear, concise, and organized manner; demonstrate et .

Complete a feasibility study based on the renovation of your inpatient acute rehab facility where patients can obtain physical therapy while in a hospital setting and be medical managed. The facility will have new private rooms with state of the art equipment. A mobility garden for training and transitioning back into the community. Using the feasibility study outlined in the Daniels and Dickson (1990) article as a model, and including a minimum of four other scholarly sources, create a 6-8-page feasibility study that includes the following headings and supporting information: Evaluating Feasibility The concept of a feasibility study is central to viability, the “worth to the effort” ratio, and return on investment (ROI). What needs to be taken into consideration to create a feasibility study (e.g., human resources, community needs, and technological advances, federal and state regulatory issues)? Within this section, you will research and design an economical health care service that is responsive to a given market. This research stems from understanding your target population and present need in health services. Furthermore, as you have seen from the Daniels and Dickson (1990) article, you must appraise your human resources, capital investment, and how your effort will yield a return on investment from a facilities perspective as well as the tangible greater good of providing healthcare to a community. Strategic Effect Analyze the role of public policy with regard to your project. What policies and processes should be in place to create an effective program? How will you measure the effectiveness of your program and your provision of health care services? Develop a microeconomic model that is responsive to the specific health care service demands of your target population. For example, the current trend of the medical home model, which allows for the coordination of care, allows for better communication among service providers as well as convenience for patients. Is the population a market priority? How does your program serve a need for your target population? Market Analysis Within this section you will identify the population demographics, who your competitors are, and whether or not a real need for the services you are proposing exists in the community. As you examine the demographic and population needs using Census data and other reliable sources, you must also consider what competitors, if any, exist in the present climate. This requires an evaluation of the present socioeconomic and cultural trends influencing how people make decisions in health care. In addition, in this analysis you will need to compare and contrast economic challenges and incentives among health care’s organization models. This comparison requires an understanding of past challenges and incentives that other organizations have implemented. Financial Analysis This section includes the revenue, expenses, and net income. Compare and contra.

This case study shows how indepth evaluation of the visitor experience can provide useful evidence on the ways visitors interact with exhibitions and what they learn from them. \'Coffee shop\' debriefs replicated the natural way that visitors talk about an exhibition visit with their companions. The study comments on methodology and the implications of the findings for exhibition design, learning outcomes and effective promotional strategies. The study was carried out at the National Gallery of Australia in January 2007.

In BC’s nearly-decade-old “new” curriculum, the curricular competencies describe the processes that students are expected to develop in areas of learning such as mathematics. They reflect the “Do” in the “Know-Do-Understand” model. Under the “Communicating” header falls the curricular competency “Explain and justify mathematical ideas and decisions.” Note that it contains two processes: “Explain mathematical ideas” and “Justify mathematical decisions.” I have broken it down into its separate parts in order to understand--or reveal--its meaning. The first part is commonplace in classrooms. By now, BC math teachers—and students—understand that “Explain mathematical ideas” means more than “Show your work.” Teachers consistently ask “What did you do?” and “How do you know?” This process is about retelling, not just of steps but of thinking. The second part happens less frequently. Think back to the last time that you observed a student make—a necessary precursor to justify—a mathematical decision. “Justify” is about defending. Like “explain,” it involves reasoning; unlike “explain,” it also involves opinion and debate. In order to reinterpret the curricular competency “Explain and justify mathematical ideas and decisions,” I will continue to take apart its constituent part “Justify mathematical decisions” and carefully examine the term “mathematical decisions.” What, exactly, is a “mathematical decision”? Below, I will categorize answers to this question. These categories, and the provided examples, may help to suggest new opportunities for students to justify.
