- Job and Career Accelerator can be accessed from the Hackley Public Library homepage…go to MeL, then look for Job and Career Accelerator on the left. The first thing you need to do is register. It is free and easy.
- Pick a username and password. Be sure to fill in your email address so you can get your password back if you forget it.
- Once you logged in you can choose from among a number of tools. The featured tools are in the center. Towards the bottom you will find a link to a Tutorial, and to your profile. You will find tips on the right. Just above the tips is your dashboard. You can see occupation matches, occupations you are interested in, recommended tests, and your resumes and cover letters. Across the top, in the green band are more links.
- The best place to start is “Get Started”. From here you can set up your personal profile and complete the Occupation Matcher, which helps narrow down the jobs that you might be interested in or qualified for.
- The Occupation Matcher is the meat of the process. It takes about 20 minutes to fill out, but helps immensely in matching your skills and likes to the jobs that are available.
- Explore occupations lets you find out about different occupations. You can look at in-demand jobs, look by groups, or search by keyword.
- In-demand jobs are grouped by Industry Group

- Tools to Get Hired has lots of tools. You can build your resumes here, create cover letters, and other letters, learn about job applications and interviews, find tutorials on software and other computer topics, and access quick tips.

- Clicking on the first job in the list brings up the job information. You can apply right from this screen.
- With the advanced job search you can narrow your search down
- The Resume builder lets you create a resume within Job and Career Accelerator or upload one you’ve already created. The Resume builder guides you through the information you need to put on your resume.
- My Accelerator is your dashboard. You can see what you’ve done and what still needs to be done. You can also set reminders for yourself here. J&CA uses google calendar to set reminders, which does require a google account (but they’re free).
- Job and Career Accelerator has lots of tools to help you find and apply for jobs. Visit the site and explore!
