The Key Ingredient to Social Media Contests
I had to pause to think about my past success
with contests, and what worked best! It’s a tough
question, because based on the prizes; we have
seen some huge results of every kind. However,
when it comes to our most consistent and
successful contests, I always think about timeline
contests! Timeline contests are those that allow
fans to participate for a chance to win a prize,
and they are a great way to leverage
engagement!
This week I was asked by a social marketer, from a huge social media brand,
what is the secret to a successful contest?
Meaning, instead of having one contest every three to four months, think about
having them more often. This means taking a huge prize, and breaking it up into mini-
prizes that you will give away monthly or weekly. I truly believe that weekly timeline
contests are the key ingredient in social media contests. Through the timeline, your
brand is allowed to giveaway prizes in return for your fans and followers to engage
with your posts.
My biggest advice when it comes to social media contests is that
it’s all about frequency!
It doesn’t have to be a huge prize, because your brand is giving them away
weekly! Take $10 to $100 prizes, and leverage them to 1 to 5 winners weekly,
and you will see that you’re page is about ready to take off with engagement!
By taking this approach, within the next month, your social networks will have
more engagement weekly than you have ever had in the history of your pages!
Don’t be afraid to spice things up with the key ingredient of social media, timeline
contests, on all your networks. Have fun! The only thing I would suggest to those that
wish to learn more about timeline contests, is to please be sure to check the rules for
each of the platforms that your brand is on.
Then be ready to take your social media engagement to epic LEVELS!!
Make sure that your timeline contest is running the correct way.
