 Old People cannot to be changed
 This is not true and negative idea about age
must be removed

development
Part – One
Understanding of Aging
 Research in Gerontology has changed the Concept
of Ageing
 Age and Productivity
 Biological ageing is still minimal, gentle &
insignificant
 Cognitive reflects
 There is no upper limit for anything
 No one is old, only if we don’t grow we become old
 Longevity and Quality of our life are under our
control
 Old age is what you make it
 No one is old; only if you don’t grow you become old.
Growing Older- not necessarily the
biologically imperatives
 The normal declines in
 Physical Strength,
 Cardio- vascular functioning,
 Mental faculty
 that we equate with growing older are not
biological imperatives but much more the
result of:
 Mismanagement
 Misuse, Disuse No-use
 Negative Expectations
 Attitudes
ourselves
Biological Changes are Marginal
 Intellectual Skills - intellectual functioning tend to
improve well into later years
 Sexuality - Most people continue to be sexual
beings throughout their lives
 Creativity - Capacity for creative thought & work
persists into later years
 Family Life - Grows with Age
 Marital Life - Most older people say they are “very
happy” with their marriages

 It is a myth
 Older people are not interested in sex, or that they are
not capable of having a fulfilling sexual relationship.
 It is a wrong belief
 Sexuality can and does play an important part in the life
of the older adult.
 The Fact
 people who were most sexually active in their younger
years are the ones who are most likely to remain sexually
active when they get older.*
Sexuality in Older Stage
 Older men can often enjoy prolonged sexual
stimulation prior to orgasm and may have more
control over when they have an orgasm.
 Older women may notice an increase in their sex drive
and a sense of sexual freedom that they've never had
before (because of worries about getting pregnant).
Part Three
Old Age is What You make it
 No one is old
 Only if you don’t grow that you become old
Age is a State of Mind
As long as people continue to act and
react to that which is good, there will
be no ageing
Attitude towards himself is man’s
greatest resources
You are just what you Think you are
Take control of how you look.
You are a product of your own thinking
and no more than the quality of your
own thoughts.
There will be no ageing until you lose
self-control & your zest for living.
