Disturb us, Lord, when we are too pleased
with ourselves, when our dreams have come
true because we dreamed too little, when we
arrived safely because we sailed too close to
Disturb Us
the shore. Disturb us, Lord, when with the
abundance of things we possess we have lost
our thirst for the waters of life; having fallen in
love with life, we have ceased to dream of
eternity and in our efforts to build a new earth,
we have allowed our vision of the new
Heaven to dim. Disturb us, Lord, to dare more
boldly, to venture on wilder seas where storms
will show Your mastery; where losing sight of
land, we shall find the stars. We ask you to
push back the horizons of our hopes; and to
push back the future in strength, courage,
hope, and love. This we ask in the name of
our Captain, who is Jesus Christ.

Whether you want to be or not, you are a leader. You will hear me saying business owners, but I’m also talking to ministry leaders, parents, teachers, etc.
If we’re called to lead, then we’re called to influence. I want you to think about your life, your business. Who are you supposed to influence?
Today, we’re going to discuss:The value of the visionThe source of the vision Your business vision and mission statement
It’s possible to have NO vision. Yes, the scriptures explains what happens when there is No vision. What does your company? What does your life look like with NO vision.
Is your vision God breathed? Did you invite God into the birth of your business? If so, you invited in His redemptive revelation to be woven into the foundation of your business.
God wants to expand the vision on the inside of us.
Our businesses create a platform. Don’t underestimate the value of having a platform. It allows you to influence the culture.LysaTerkeurst – New York Times Bestseller,”Made to Crave”Dave Ramsey – nationally syndicated radio show, TV, able to influence the culture
She responds with her doubts, fears and insecurities.
Truett Cathy – owner of Chick fil A; started with a restaurantDavid Green - Owner of Hobby Lobby; it was a mini picture frame company
3 “I am Joseph!” he said to his brothers. “Is my father still alive?” But his brothers were speechless! They were stunned to realize that Joseph was standing there in front of them. 4 “Please, come closer,” he said to them. So they came closer. And he said again, “I am Joseph, your brother, whom you sold into slavery in Egypt. 5 But don’t be upset, and don’t be angry with yourselves for selling me to this place. It was God who sent me here ahead of you to preserve your lives. 6 This famine that has ravaged the land for two years will last five more years, and there will be neither plowing nor harvesting. 7 God has sent me ahead of you to keep you and your families alive and to preserve many survivors.[a]8 So it was God who sent me here, not you! And he is the one who made me an adviser[b] to Pharaoh—the manager of his entire palace and the governor of all Egypt.Gen 37: 2 17 years old when he got the visionGen 41:46 , 42:6 30 years old when it was fulfilled
Prov 16:9 9 We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.
Example: I’m teaching Nyah to cook. There is a process she has to go through and to her it doesn’t make since. How’s she going to get to point B by doing point A? We want to question God’s process. Joseph came through the experience without bitterness, resentment or unforgiveness. “God brought me to this place.” Can you say that?
Meditate on the great things that could happen. People’s live will be changed. Mirror with scriptures (God’s promises, His assurance) on it. Scriptures anchor us. Find scriptures and meditate on them.
Activity – copy of one page business plan sample and vision and mission statement worksheetThis diagram gives you a big picture view of things.“Your mission is what you do everyday, while your vision is your future. To create a mission statement, you should think about what you do and why you do it. Your mission should be simple and clear and only one sentence long. It should touch upon your behaviors, traits and values. For your vision statement, imagine yourself at least ten years in the future. What will you be doing then and why? What are you looking to give back to the world?”Objectives or Goals are measurable. Ex. Enroll 4 new consulting clients a month.Strategies – How will this business be built? It’s the “how” for the goals you have. (Set limits for what you will or won’t do.) Strategies answer: How will you build this business? (How are you going to go from where you are right now to where you want to go?) What will make the business successful over time?Ex. Become nationally known thru speaking, articles and media relations.Use the internet for awareness, credibility, building email list.Typical strategies: writing a book to build a platform, join linkedin for the purpose of networking with people in your industry; attend an industry networking group with your ideal clients Action Plans are business-building projects, programs and initiatives that implement your strategies & define what’s necessary to achieve your objectives. They are not your normal, ongoing tasks and routines.
What need are you filling? What problem are you solving?Your organization's vision is all about what is possible, all about that potential. The mission is what it takes to make that vision come true.Vision: For profit: The picture of the future you want for your business.Non profits: What change do you want to create for your community?
This is important because as a leader you need to know where you’re taking people.
