The many benefits of anti-inflammatory supplements
Anti-inflammatory supplements can offer relief when you are suffering from some form of painful
inflammation. The inflammation can result from redness, heat, general pain, and swelling and it can
target specific areas of your body such as the bladder, skin, sinuses and prostate. Inflammation can also
affect the entire body. Using anti inflammation supplements can help you keep the pain under control
without suffering the effects of ulcers of the stomach that can result from use of prescription
medication.
You are probably already using some of the anti-inflammatory supplements available in the market. One
such supplement is fish oil supplement. Fish supplements come with tons of benefits; however, its
primary appeal is that it is rich in omega-3 fatty acids. Fatty acids provide relief to those suffering from
inflammations because they prevent the body from biochemical that trigger inflammation. It also lowers
the levels of interleukins which indicate chronic inflammation. If you are suffering from arthritis, then
you can consider reducing your anti-inflammatory dosage if fish oil works for you. The only drawback to
fish oil, however, is that when you first begin using it, you will tend to belch a fish taste immediately after
taking your supplement. For this reason, most people take their supplements in bits throughout the day
to minimize this particular side effect.
Some people also use Zinc as an anti-inflammatory supplement to fight anti-inflammation in addition to
its ability to boost the body’s immune system. Zinc reduces inflammation by increasing the production of
cytokine called TNF-alpha. Zinc is prevalent in red meat, sea foods as well as poultry products. However,
you can also get Zinc from dairy products, nuts, beans whole grains and cereals. When you fail to get
enough Zinc from your meals, you may need to take supplements. The most common Zinc supplement
side effect tend to be overdose. Therefore, be sure not to take more than 40 milligrams of Zinc in any
given day.
For enhanced skin care, consider taking anti-oxidants. These fight inflammation by reducing the oxidative
damage that occurs when immune cells combat infections. Some of the anti-oxidants that you may want
to consider include Vitamin C, selenium, and vitamin E supplements. These supplements work by
neutralizing free radicals that have oxidative damage. However, avoid consuming too much anti oxidants
as their overdose can result in mild and severe effects such as weakened immune system, reduced
muscle function as well as heart failures and toxic reactions.
