INTRODUCTION
 California-based TextMarks provides large-scale text
messaging solutions to help businesses, schools, and
organizations get their messages out to wide audiences.
As adoption of short messaging service (SMS) has
grown, many marketing professionals have recognized
the potential of sending text messages to current and
prospective customers. TextMarks responds to this need
with specific solutions for segmented marketing and lead
generation.
In early 2015, a report from the Pew Research Center
revealed that the percentage of Americans who own
smartphones has risen significantly since 2011, with 64
percent of U.S. adults owning a smartphone.
MARKETING OPPORTUNITIES RISE
 Of those smartphone users, nearly half agree that
they could not live without their smartphone. Today’s
smartphone users rely on their phones for everything
from emailing and calling others to getting vital news
and information. Other research has validated that 81
percent of mobile device owners use SMS text
communication.
For marketers, this growing phone usage provides
significant opportunity to reach customers with text
messaging campaigns. Text-based marketing is one
way to build permission-based relationships and send
out high-value promotions to customers.
