1. ASSURE for Each Day of the First Thanksgiving Unit Plan
Monday: Students will be introduced to the turkey robot, listen to the podcast about the Pilgrims’ background
and why they came to America, create pilgrim figurines, and be introduced to the class Facebook page. Students
will have a better understanding of how robotics work, use Pinterest to view the art project example, and use
Facebook, all of which are various forms of technology.
Tuesday: Students will view the edited photo of the Indian, make Indian headbands, complete the culture sections
of the web quest, and create a twitter account. They will find out about photo editing and how technology can
change the way pictures look. They will also be using the Internet to complete the web quest portion and to make
their twitter accounts.
Wednesday: Students will complete the zunal web quest, create paper boats with their group and sail them down
the creek, help make the class turkey poster by writing what they’re thankful for on feathers, and follow and
check out the blog under the link provided. The web quest and blog implement technology into the lesson
because they will learn get a better understanding of how the Internet works.
Thursday: Students will watch the voyage video I created, complete the Microsoft Word web quest they started on
Tuesday, and they will take an online quiz to test their knowledge thus far to make sure they know what they
should at this point. The web quest and online quiz use technology.
Friday: Students will watch the turkey voki, view the myth poster I made, watch the talk-show video about
common myths of the first thanksgiving, and play thanksgiving games when they finish early. These games can be
accessed through the QR code.
