  3. 3. Amazon ranks your product only for keywords you’ve specifically typed into your product listing, so it is essential you choose the right keywords to promote your book. There is no set formula for researching keywords—it’s more like a game of trial and error, testing to see what works best for you.
  4. 4. Once you find keywords for your book, add them to the details section in your Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) account. Manually tracking your keywords on Amazon is a time-consuming process. This is where the suite comes in handy!

  21. 21. Amazon Keyword Tracking Case Study Observe table:
  22. 22. Amazon Keyword Tracking Case Study There are four columns in the table: (see table on previous slide) Keyword This lists the keywords we entered for tracking. Trend This shows how the keywords’ popularity have increased or decreased. Keyword ranking This indicates how our book is currently ranking on Amazon for that keyword as well as what page it’s on in Amazon results. Actions The three buttons underneath this column include Trend Chart, Show in Amazon Search and Delete.
  23. 23. Amazon Keyword Tracking Case Study We just accessed the data for our current Amazon keyword rankings, which we’ll use to decide whether to keep the keyword, optimize it or remove it. Set in Stone ranks No. 1 for the keyword phrase “contemporary adventure romance.” That means it appears on Amazon’s first result page, so we want to keep this phrase because it is driving traffic and sales for the book.
  24. 24. Amazon Keyword Tracking Case Study The keyword phrase “contemporary romance series,” however, is not doing well. Its ranking is >300, which means it appears on or below page 300. We can either optimize the listing for that keyword to rank higher, or remove it and choose a different one.
