BIODIVERSI
2. What does the word biodiversity
means?
Biodiversity is the variability among living organisms from all
sources, including terrestrial, marine, and other
aquatic ecosystems and the ecological complexes of which they
are part; this includes diversity within species, between species,
and of ecosystems.
3. Indias biodiversity.
India displays significant biodiversity. One of
eighteen megadiverse countries. It has about 27% of earth's
bird species and it is home to 7.6% of all mammalian, 12.6% of
all avian, 6.2% of all reptilian, 4.4% of all amphibian, 11.7%
of all fish, and 6.0% of all flowering plant species along with
1.2 Billion people in just over 3 million km2
4. New species
New species are regularly
discovered (on average between 5–
10,000 new species each year, most
of them insects) and many, though
discovered, are not yet classified
(estimates are that nearly 90% of
all arthropods are not yet
classified).[34] Most of the
terrestrial diversity is found
in tropical forests.
5. Human needs.
Although about 80 percent of humans' food supply comes from
just 20 kinds of plants,[citation needed] humans use at least
40,000 species to live. Many people depend on these species
for food, shelter, and clothing] Earth's surviving biodiversity
provides resources for increasing the range of food and other
products suitable for human use, although the present
extinction rate shrinks that potential
6. Where is biodiverssity.
Biodiversity is essentially everywhere, ubiquitous on Earth’s
surface and in every drop of its bodies of water. The virtual
omnipresence of life on Earth is seldom appreciated because
most organisms are small (<5 centimeters); their presence is
sparse, ephemeral, or cryptic, or, in the case of microbes, they
are invisible to the unaided human eye
7. Ecosystem services.
Biodiversity supports many ecosystem services that are often
not readily visible. It plays a part in regulating the chemistry
of our atmosphere and water supply. Biodiversity is directly
involved in water purification, recycling nutrients and providing
fertile soils. Experiments with controlled environments have
shown that humans cannot easily build ecosystems to support
human needs; for example insect pollination cannot be
mimicked, and that activity alone represents tens of billions of
dollars in ecosystem services per year to humankind

16coached train was decorated in a way that shows what is
biodiversity. That is the pic of
