• February 2012: Rulers decide to completely change
tertiary education in the UAE by turning to iPadagogy
• April 2012: The Mobile Learning Initiative was announced
(UAE U, HCT + ZU)
• April to June 2012: iPads were piloted
• August 2012: 1 wk PD. 1 wk to plan!
• September 1, 2012: Classes begin

• Integrated Skills Project (ISP): use multiple
apps simultaneously
• Edmodo (lesson plans, links, PDFs, Quizlet &
Polls)
• What is an ePub? What is an iBook? How do
they differ from PowerPoint, Keynote and PDF
formats?
• Overview of Creative Book Builder (CBB)

6. Which apps? Which Order?
• PLAN: Popplet lite (free storyboarding/mind-
mapping app)
• COLLECT: iPad camera & video or iMovie
• INTERVIEW: CBB or Voice Record Pro (free
HD quality app)
• ASSEMBLE: Creative Book Builder: iBooks
7. Preparing to Create iBooks
• Use Popplet lite to brainstorm and/or create
an outline for the ebooks
• Write texts to match the Popplet outline
• Use iPad’s camera and/or video recorder to
collect images and sounds
• Use iMovie for the HD quality sound and
video
• Use Voice Record Pro (HD audio)
8. Creating ePubs/iBooks
• Open CBB and create an ePub file
• Create a title page and save it
• Create Chapters then insert pictures, text,
links, audio and video files
• Add and delete chapters and sections
9. Exporting ePubs
• Click on Publish (bottom left)
• Select “ePub” and then Generate Book
• Choose EPUB Version 3.0 and then click on
Start Processing
• When this finishes, click on “Close”
• You may export to email, Dropbox, Google
Drive, FTP, WebDAV, iTunes or QR
