PERSONALITY DISORDER
 Borderline Personality Disorder is a condition in which people
demonstrate long-term patterns of unstable emotions about
themselves and others.

2. CAUSES AND RISK FACTORS
• Abandonment in Childhood or adolescence
• A disruption in family life
• Poor communication in the family
• Sexual Abuse
Tends to affect women more than men and among psychiatric patients
with this disorder.

3. SYMPTOMS
 Uncertain about their identity, as a result their values and interests can rapidly
change.
 See things in extremes whether good or bad.
 Views of others may change quickly
 Fear of being abandoned
 Feelings of emptiness and boredom
 Frequent displays of inappropriate anger
 Impulsiveness with money, drugs, sexual relationships, binge eating, and stealing.

4. OTHER SIGNS OF BPD
 Very manipulative
 Does not deal with rejection well at all, drives them to a point of
being physically ill (they see it as the end of the world)
 Likes to be the victim of a situation just for the attention
 Intolerance of being alone
 Repeated crises and acts of self-injury like overdosing for example

5. COMPLICATIONS
 Drug Abuse
 Depression
 Problems with work, social, and family relationships.
 Suicide Attempts

6. TREATMENT
 Group Therapy
 Dialectical behavioral therapy
 One on one with a psychologist
