(San Antonio, TX) San Antonio woman business owner and leader, Magaly Chocano, is one of 12 honored
by Cosmo for Latinas as one of their Fun Fearless Latinas. Magaly is being recognized for her visionary
creation of the first build-your-own-app platform for iOS, SwebApps, which she launched hot on the heels of
Apple’s announcement that they were opening up the first iOS software development kit (SDK) for
developers. Chocano is the CEO & Founder of Sweb Development, a digital marketing agency that
conceptualizes and builds mobile, web, and social strategies for companies of all sizes.
SwebApps and parent company Sweb Development have led the charge in app development, with over
300 apps developed to date, including apps for a bevy of small businesses, colleges and universities,
several Fortune 500 companies, and even global media entities like the Al Jazeera Children’s Channel.
Chocano launched Sweb Development as a web development firm in 2008 after leaving her job as an
advertising executive for a Hispanic marketing agency. Two short months after the launch of the App Store,
the small team of three began iOS mobile app development. In 2009, SwebApps was launched as the first
online iPhone app builder for businesses.
“It has been a wonderful year for myself and my team – having been honored as a 40 under 40, SXSWi
Social Revolucion Innovator, and now the Cosmo Latina Fun Fearless award! It has been a very
interesting road as a Hispanic woman in technology, and this is one more validation that anything can be
accomplished,” said Chocano.
All 12 honorees are featured in the summer 2013 issue of Cosmopolitan for Latinas, which hit newsstands
on April 30th. An official luncheon hosted by the magazine will take place on May 23rd in New York.
