Polly also gets carried away eating lots of chocolate in Bruges! The book is aimed at upper KS2 pupils but would also be suitable for older learners as an aide-mémoire or simply for independent reading for pleasure. The books include many hyperlinks to songs and additional cultural information which can be expoloited in class via the IWB or at home should you wish to share the book with your learners. The book can also be printed out and is attractively presented in full colour with QR codes which allow both the teacher and the learner to access French native speaker sound files. 6. “D’abord, j’ai visité la célèbre statue en bronze du Mannekin Pis à
Bruxelles. C’est un petit garçon nu qui fait pipi!”
La statue est le symbole de l'indépendance d'esprit des Bruxellois.
Ce qui est amusant, c’est qu’à Noël, il se déguise en Papa Noël!
Le Mannekin Pis a plus de huit cents costumes!

7. Polly aime aussi faire la fête.
Tous les ans elle va au Carnaval de
Binche.
Pour Mardi Gras il y a des milliers de
Gilles* dans les rues.
Moi aussi, j’adore me déguiser comme
le Mannekin Pis.

8. Tous les ans, en août, il y a une fête très amusante à
Dinant en Belgique: la Régate Internationale de
baignoires. Tout le monde fabrique des bateaux
avec des baignoires! En plus, il y a un grand
prix de dix mille euros!
