Muslims; so the party will be known as Awami
League”.

• Yama appeared as Vidura on earth as
a result of curse by Sage Mandavya.
• Legend has it that once Sage
Mandavya was in deep meditation in
his ashram. A group of thieves who
were being chased by soldiers ran into
the ashram and hid inside it. Sage
Mandavya was immersed in his
meditation and was unaware of what
was happening around him. The
soldiers caught the thieves from the
ashram and accused the sage of
assisting the thieves. The soldiers in a
fit of rage thrust a spear into the sage.
• Sage then cursed Yama to take birth
of earth in the womb of woman who
will be a Dasi.Thus Vidura was born as
the son of Sage Vyasa and a dasi .
• This incident is significant for another
reason also. What?

Dharma Sastra, shall not be considered sinful if

flourished between 3rd century BC and 4th century AD. On the
basis of the findings, M. Smith and R. Mohanty claim that the
fortified city flourished from around 5th century BC and
probably lasted well after the 4th century. Thus, this defensive
settlement originated prior to the Mauryan empire.
The first excavations at the site were carried out by B.B. Lal in 1948.
An American-Indian team took up work in 2001.
The well-known historian Karuna Sagar Behera has voiced serious
concern over the preservation of material unearthed from the site
and notes, "It is a shame that some gold coins and terracotta pottery
found at the place during the first excavation in the late 1940s were
