Our natural environment is an integral part of our world today and is valued for varying
reasons in society. The general public, academics, and environmentalists etc., all share different
opinions on the function or use of our natural environment and provide interesting perspectives
on the role of the environment. It is evident that society today deeply values the environment as
numerous sectors encourage conservation of natural resources and preservation of natural sites;
however, in order to fully understand the formulation of this environment–oriented ideology

As the article progresses, Pinchot determines two
other qualities associated with conservation: prevention of waste, and conservation for a larger
population. The aforementioned three pillars that carry the weight of Pinchot's idea of

The most effective way of sustaining the environment has been an enduring, controversial argument.
Some believe that the only way of saving the environment is by considering it sacred and leaving it
untouched, which relates to John Muir's idea of preservation. Others understand that it is impossible
to draw a line between civilization and the environment, but there can be a balance between the two.
This is what Gifford Pinchot argued through his idea of conservation, which he defines as "the wise

Gifford Pinchot understood that there is no line between civilization and the wilderness, but natural
resources should be utilized responsibly. In The Fight for Conservation, Gifford Pinchot wrote,
"The central thing for which conservation stands is to make this country the best possible place to
live in, both for us and for our descendants" (79). His notion of conservation, which is a balance
between society and the environment, is an efficacious way of allowing for the advancement of
humanity and satisfying the needs of underdeveloped countries. Gifford Pinchot also knew if natural
resources were made public, people would feel more responsible in maintaining their environment.
Like Gifford Pinchot, Edward O. Wilson knew the efficiency of conservation because there is no
line between "natural capital" and civilization, but there can be ethics, because, as he justifies in The
Solution, "everyone has some kind of environmental ethic" (510). The policy that will succeed in

The efforts of conservation can have many purposes and can bring help to area's that need help
environmentally. They can also be organized by well paid government organizations or local
groups funded by the community that they live in. Some examples of government groups are
National Park Service, Natureserve, Bureau of land management, Ocean Conservancy, and Traffic
along with many, many more. There might be a lot of government but there are many many more
local groups that are documented, undocumented or even help but don't put a name with their

resources that humans need in order to satisfy their needs and wants. However, if you look at the
world recently, humans have started to realize that these resources aren't unlimited and have started

of species of plants and animals that call the Amazon home. It is also infringing on the livelihood
of Native Indian tribes that live deep in the forest. Recycling the paper we already have would cut
down dramatically on our need to produce more, and saving these precious natural areas would then
be possible.
Nick also argues that recycling takes too much time and is an inconvenience. The simple answer to
