The First Thanksgiving was a harvest festival celebrated between the Wampanoag Indians and Pilgrims at Plymouth Plantation in Massachusetts in 1621. The Wampanoag Indians helped the Pilgrims survive their first winter by teaching them how to cultivate the land and harvest fish. Today, Thanksgiving is celebrated annually on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States and Canada as a time for families and friends to give thanks, travel to spend time together over a meal, and one of the most popular travel holidays.
