4. Creating a logo - word-marks
This shows me refining my favorite fonts further and experimenting with layout.
5. Creating a logo - icon
Having looked at potential icons that could be used, this shows my first draft set of logos.
6. Creating a logo - icon
After receiving class feedback, I then developed my logos further and created 8 refined outcomes.
7. Final logo
This is my final logo design for the HNC | HND
Graphic Design course. The clients key aims
and objectives included: creativity, skillful,
informed and professional. I believe that all 4
of these are portrayed in my final logo design.
• Creativity: The chosen font combinations and
layout emit the creativity behind my logo
design.
• Skillful: The overall look of my logo design
can have a relevance to the buzz word of
skilful. Although my logo may not include any
icon imagery to represent the skills that are to
be learned on the course, the actual design
itself shows the professional outcomes that
can be achieved.
• Informed: By using the colour orange which
represents enthusiasm, fascination,
happiness, creativity, determination,
attraction, success, encouragement and
stimulation. I have shown I have fully
understood the courses key aspirations.
• Professional: Finally the use of a circle to
encompass my design into a neat compact
shape creates a professional finish that can be
used across a wide variety of different sized
media. I.e - pull up banners & business cards.
As for target audience, my logo is gender
neutral and appeals to the courses age range
of male/females in the age range of 18-22.
8. Creating a slogan
Start designing your future today.
Before starting any design work, I felt that I needed a slogan to work alongside
the design collateral. I did not carry out research into existing slogans, but in
fact went with the one which popped into my head first and this was:Start
designing your future today.
I think this slogan effectively sums up the course ambitions, and encourages
students to start a future in graphic design.
12. Poster
These are a few examples of how I would go about creating
design work for the HNC | HND course in Graphic Design. I
have established a design style that emits a professional
finish, but also grabs the desired attention of the courses
target audience of 18-22 year old male and females.
I created my design pieces using knowledge and skills that I
have learnt at my work place, this included using the
transform tool to merge two singular shapes into one before
applying one singular drop shadow. Skills like this are ones
that the students are to hopefully learn on the course, so
therefore my design work meets the buzz word of skillful.
Overall I am very pleased with my final design outcomes and
believe they could be used to promote this new and upcoming
course.
