2. Mood Board Analysis Looking at my mood board that I created for my Research task I could analyse that in Romantic drama most of the time Natural weather is used as the back ground and a lot of non diegetic sound used to create that extra atmosphere for audiences to experience. The use of close ups are also common in Romantic Drama ,especially when the director is trying to get the audience to feel what the character is feeling. So looking at this i realised that for my own film opening i should use a lot of Close ups where it is necessary and also add some non diegetic sound to give that extra feel for audiences watching my film opening.
3. Analysis of film openers of chosen genre In the film opening of notebook I analysed that the director used real location rather then a set like other movies would use. This had an influence on my own film opening because i wanted to use real/natural setting rather then using a room in a closed location ( i.e. A House ). I also analysed that all my three film openers used Non-diegetic sound which gave me an idea as well to use one. So i decided to use “ Fight for this Love by Cheryl Cole” for my film opening. I also analysed that all three directors used a lot of external lighting and natural lighting so hopefully in my film opening there will be a lot of natural light available.
4. Brief overview of opening sequence When I analysed the film opening of three romantic drama’s i realised that there was this constant sequence between all three; Dear John, Remember me, Notebook. They all used Non-Diegetic piece of music at some point. Though the titling were all different. For Remember me the titling came after the opening. For Notebook it came right at the beginning.
5. Music/Sound piece: They all used Non-Diegetic piece of music at some point. Titling: Though the titling were all different. For Remember me the titling came after the end of opening. For Notebook it came right at the beginning. Dear john it came before the opening. So basing it on the this i decided to put the titling of my opening at the end. Editing: There was a lot of cuts used in all three films, so i could see the pattern all the three films.
6. Allen coulter was the director of remember me which was released in 2010. he influenced me in the idea of putting the title at the end of the opening. He used the train as the main effect and put it on the title i took the same idea but for my opening my title will flow like water as it will be edited to look as if its floating on top of the water. Nick Cassavetes was the director of Notebook which was released in 2004. The opening of Notebook influenced me in using a location that was natural rather then a set such as house etc. Influencing directors
