abuse counselors that will serve the people who
are suffering from alcohol, drug or other
substances addiction and abuse. They are people
that evaluate the patients and then give proper
group or single counseling to alleviate their
problems and understand and determine their
behaviors that are results of the addiction.

9. Certified Associate Addiction Professional
(CAAP-1) - This first certification is given to
people even without academic degree
attained. The applicants will be requested to
have a complete 2,000 hours of labor
experience, 150 hours of schooling education
and 100 hours of direct and expressed
supervision.

11. Certified Associate Addiction Professional
(CAAP-2) – The requirements for this level of
certification includes a complete associate
degree or valid and original high school
diploma. Must also complete 4,000 hours of
working service for at least seven years, 270
hours of school and 150 direct supervision
hours; for the associate degree.
12. For those who only have their high school
diplomas, they must have a total of 6,000
working experience hours for the past ten
years, 270 hours of education and 300 direct
supervisions hours. There will also be
examinations that will be given that they
need to pass.
13. Certified Addiction Professional (CAP)- This is the
highest level of substance abuse counselor
certification. The requirements are bachelor’s degree
in any career field, completion of 6,000 hours of
working experience for the last 10 years, 300 hours of
education and 300 direct supervision hours. There
are exams that they need to pass, both written and
oral exams. For renewal of the certificate, it needs to
have continuing hours of education.

position of any program director. It is now
needed in the mental health agency that’s why
