6. EPICURUS is swanky upmarket restaurants founded by Sri Manthena Ramalinga Raju. It derives
its name from a famous Greek Philosopher (314-270 B.C.) by the same name who believed that
life was meant to be enjoyed to the Hilt and not Hot atoned for. His philosophy was simple –
“Without guilt or fear, We assume that pleasure is beginning and end of a blessed life and
recognise this to be our first and natural fortune.”
The Word Epicurus Came from “Epicure” which means a person has cultivated a
discriminating palate for good food and drink. Epicureanism attained great popularity thanks to
sustained and committed efforts of his pupils who exhorted the cognoscenti to switch over
from low living to true divine living by taking to the good things of life like good food and
drink. It was this galvanising event of a remarkable age that Inspired our Founder to set up .
From last 50 years, Epicurus Group has undertaken to promote the initiatives of the hospitality
industry. This competition founded by M. S. Nagaraju, Managing Director & CEO of EPICURUS
Group. It is an opportunity for Hotels to highlight their teams’ exemplary achievements in
communication, marketing, innovation, human resources, social and environmental responsibility
and customer loyalty programs. A major innovation has been added during the 6th edition in
2013 with the Indian Hospitality Awards. Through them, a link was made between the schools
of hospitality management and the future operations managers.

around India through the Indian Hospitality Awards. This national competition founded by Shri M S
NagaRaju, CMD of EPICURUS®, President Telangana Hotels Association is an opportunity for hotels to
highlight their teams’ exemplary achievements in communication, marketing, innovation, human
resources, social and environmental responsibility, customer loyalty programs.
With the creation of the Indian Hospitality Awards in 2007, a strong link between hotel management
schools and future managers has been established. For this edition, hospitality companies themselves
may present a contributor to their young ambition and promising career.
Since the beginning of the event in 2007, the Indian Hospitality Awards have received close to
2,500 applications. 370 awards were given during the past 8years. Candidates from all the states
enter every year the competition. The Indian Hospitality Awards thus are an excellent representation of
the National hospitality industry diversity and help to reveal its innovative processes and concepts.
The Indian Hospitality Awards organization and development are placed under the control of an
Advisory Board which includes representatives of the Indian hospitality industry for the hotels
competition and representatives of Indian hospitality management schools as well as hotel groups
human resources managers for the awards. An jury composed of about ten renowned figures of the
business world, the tourism industry, and the marketing sector (excluding the hotel and restaurant
industry) choose the winners and the finalists of the Indian Hospitality Awards.
