4. Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate, but that we are powerful beyond
our greatest measure.
This first slide starts off with a “what it is” statement. It directly states what exactly
the common fear of man is.

5. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who
am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, handsome, talented and fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
This second slide, while building up to the “what could be”, provokes a strong
emotional response from the reader or audience.

6. You playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about
shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.
This third slide is back to “what it is”. The audience is directly being told how it is.

7. And, as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people
permission to do the same.
I think this is where the call to action starts. Mandela is telling the audience to let their
own light shine, hoping that will make others around them do the same.

9. As we are liberated from our fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
Mandela ends with the new bliss. In this sentence, he is projecting what his hopes are
going forward; that everyone breaks their chains and is liberated from fear.
