When creating my music magazine I used the basic layout of an original magazine. I did this to allow my magazine to look both professional and able to fit the music magazine basis. However allowing myself to ‘break conventions’ provides a unique element to my magazine making it original and an interesting read to my audience. As you can see my magazine clearly shows element of a professional magazine holding the basic magazine requirement such as, a heading, advertisements, date, price, bar code, and other feature within the magazine and for the contents page; title, images of feature within the magazine, the date and a list of a page to page highlight of features. Having the main feature of this month’s magazine on the front cover, two page spread and contents page suggests basic o almost ‘odd’ requirements in a music magazine. Also having a target audience like mine; (females between the ages of 14- 25 interested in fashion, music, make-up and beauty, gossip, dance, celebs, top 10 hits, gigs) having used quite a dull coloured background of greys, black and white and some highlights of colour on ‘Jessica Jazz’s) clothes also highlighting a untraditional way of reaching my target audience. Other magazines who reach my target audience are magazines such as ‘top of the pops’. As you can clearly see they use very bright colours and lots of images to create an eye catching front cover. However as my target audience reaches an older generation such as early 20s I used the front cover of the rolling stones to provide an almost ‘glamour field to my magazine. I chose a very edgy font for my mast head simply because I wanted to reach out for a ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll’ feature in my magazine, also highlighting this is the quite dull, dark background featured in the magzine. When promoting the artist which is the key element of my magazine, i used a very fancy, glamorous font highlighting a female target audience. The fact that she is wearing the ‘latest’ fashion style of the month and posed very confidently clearly highlights the fashion factor of the magazine and allows a young female generation to almost aspire to be like ‘Jessica Jazz’ which also allows the magazine to sell well. The fact that Jessica Jazz is wearing very short shorts and posing confidently and very sexy allows the male audience to feel attracter to her.I have reached many social groups when creating my music magazine such both male and female, youth and young and rock ‘n’ roll and glamour and of course music. Looking through music videos, C.D covers and just simple images of existing music artists, it allowed me to discover that not only how to create a reliable music magazine but how the music industry and artists reach their target audience through, colour, font, clothes, instruments/ props, poses and wording. I looked at artist such as; Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Cheryl Cole, Katy Perry, Alicia Keys, The Saturday and Destinys Child. Although all of these artists are clearly highlighting a female target audience, however from the way these artists pose, dress and sing also draws attention to the male audience as well. This allows me to widen my target audience to both genders of male and female. <br />As you can see, Jessica Jazz is holding a microphone highlighting the fact that she is a singer and also reaching the music basis target audience. A confident, fashion stated, sexy pose highlight fashion and also reaches the female and male audience who will either want to inspire to be like her or be with her. Fonts used can vary between glamorous and Rock ‘n’ Roll, which compliment to opposite attractions. As I am promoting a music artist I obviously needed to show a clear indication that she is in fact a pop star. I done this by simply through the image i took of her. In both set of images i took of her she is holding some sort of instrument (guitar) or a microphone. This allows the audience to see straight away who she is and what she does. I wanted to attract two different types of audiences with these sets of photos which i took. I dressed Jessica Jazz differently. Firstly in a very comfortable yet sexy outfit in which she is holding a microphone. This will highlight her soft side which will attract the female, pop young audience. On the other hand, in the other sets of photoshoots she is wearing a very sex, edgy outfit and is holding a guitar. This allows the audience to vary from young pop teen to a slightly Rock ‘n’ Roll, sexy, male audience. <br />A successful magazine genuinely is able to capture a wide range to audiences including targeting different genders and genre of music. I wanted to be able to do this throughout my magazine and i believe I was successful when doing so.<br />Q. When creating my magazine I was using Photoshop a lot. Photoshop is a common page which allows people to edit images and create very high quality and professional images. Throughout this process I have learnt many skills when using Photoshop and other tools such as; colour picker, black and white and Brightness/ contrast. All of these tools allow me to manipulate different areas of my images and create a professional front cover, contents page and a two page spread. I also used tools which allowed me to manipulate the font style on my throughout my magazine which also really helped when create a perfect magazine<br />Q. Looking back at you preliminary task, of designing the front page of a school magazine, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product? <br />13335001377953686175137795A. When creating my school magazine I was able to discover that contrasting bright colours with black and white, although it looks effective as it creates an eye-catching field to the magazine. I don’t think it partially works when making a magazine. I have also learnt the different ways to manipulate and crop images and ways in which I can change the font styles. Also I have learnt that a black and white image very rarely looks good when promoting a particular person or artist. Furthermore I have also learnt that the more pact up and layered the front cover is the more effect it is to creating an eye-catching cover as it allows the audience to see the amount they are going to find within the magazine.<br />
