2. When visiting the Office of Health Education at UConn students are able to inquire about two main areas of wellness that effect their everyday lives: stress management and safe sex. 3. One aspects of the Office of Health Education that is most recognized throughout the student body on campus the the resource center. 4. “Distributing condoms seems to be the most sought out reason people approachHealth Education,” said UConn senior and Resident Assistant Jamie Esposito. “I useHealth Education to pick up information that can benefit my residents and pick up condoms that I can distribute to my residents and help educate them. 5. With another focus area being stress management, the office provides a relaxation station to students. Students can go into the office and take a break in one of their comfortable chairs as well as their massage chairs. It is a small way in which the office encourages healthy ways to handle the many stresses that college can come with. “The relaxation station different has massage chairs that students can utilize, just to sit and relax and be stress free for a little bit,” said Esposito who has experienced the benefits of the relaxation station.
6. The Office of Health Education is also home to the Sexperts! The Sexperts are a group of peer educators who provide programs about different aspects of sex education to student groups on campus. “They educate students in a fun and creative way with their programs,” Esposito said. 7. In the office, Health educators and student workers provide a variety of publications to students to help educate them on a variety of different areas of health. Stall Street News is a publication put out by the office for residence halls on campus. The Safer Sex Squad includes characters such as Captain Condom and Lady Lube to help educate students on the importance of safe sex.
