To whom it might concern:
My twenty five years of experience include a diverse and well-rounded portfolio with strong capabilities in design, design
leadership and project management as well as technical expertise. Under my design leadership, my portfolio includes
award-winning designs such as the 212 million-dollar Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia,
www.paconvention.com (see virtual tour), Precision Components International, Inc. Manufacturing Facility and Campus
Master plan, as well as the 60 million-dollar Winship Cancer Institute at Emory University. My current focus is in healthcare
facility design. Over the past 10 years, I have designed and managed the design process of 6 major healthcare facilities, 5
of which have been built and are in successful operation. These major built facilities are Winship Cancer Institute (Emory
University), Shepherd Spinal Center (Atlanta, Georgia), Northside Hospital (Forsyth County, Georgia), Halifax Medical
Center (Daytona Beach, Florida) and Gwinnett Medical Center (Lawrenceville, Georgia). Piedmont Newnan Hospital
(Newnan, Georgia) will be under construction shortly and will be the first certified LEED hospital in the southeast US once it
is completed.
My current position at Perkins+Will is a senior project designer / senior associate backed with experience in facilities master
planning, architectural design and planning in healthcare and corporate / commercial / civic market sectors. Project portfolio
includes major facilities which have received regional and national awards. Expertise as a “design manager” brings a
comprehensive and a "design focus" quality approach throughout the project process. Current responsibilities are to
generate design concepts and objectives, facilitate visualization, imaging generation and communication, and manage
design objectives and quality control throughout entire project phase. Expertise in 3D visualizations and work includes
gestural as well as photorealistic imaging. Design expertise also includes focus on sustainability in design and ways to
make buildings smarter and more responsive to inhabitants as well as the environment.
My skills as a “design manager” are based on the value of a strong design process, rapid concept and image development
and team building. Integrating my knowledge of the design process with an expertise of computer modeling and the speed
and flexibility of freehand sketching overlays, efficiently enhances design production from conception through
documentation. My approach to presentation is diverse and efficient ranging from the more traditional direct media
presentation to the use of the latest in multi-media software such as Sketchup, Layout, Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe
Photoshop. I have been involved in successful front-end marketing efforts such as project interviews as well as proposal
packaging and have been instrumental key player in successful project wins such as the Shepherd Spinal Center and
Woodward Academy Humanities Building.
Thank you for your interest in my credentials. I look forward to continued new design challenges in my architectural career
as well as contributing to the science and advancement of 3D visualization.
Sincerely yours,
Randy Maxwell RA
