Assignment 3
Scene 1:
 A battle is currently being fought in Scotland. The three Witches are
waiting to meet with Macbeth.
Scene 2:
 King Duncan has been notified
that the Thane of Cawdor has led
an uprising. He will be executed
later.
 King Duncan plans to promote
Macbeth to Thane of Cawdor.
Scene 3:
 Macbeth and Banquo, his military
companion, meet the three Witches
before he found out about the promotion
to Thane of Cawdor.
 The three Witches tell Macbeth the prophecy
about becoming Thane of Cawdor, Thane of
Glamis, and King of Scotland.
 Banquo was told that he will not be king,
but he will establish a Scottish dynasty later on.
 After the three Witches leave, Macbeth was told that he has became Thane of
Cawdor.
Scene 4:
 Macbeth invites King Duncan and his wife to his castle.
 Macbeth goes home to alert his servants about the
visitors and thinks about how to get the throne.
Scene 5:
 Lady Macbeth reads a letter from Macbeth
about his promotion and the Witches’
prophecies.
 She thinks that he lacks ambition to take
the Scottish throne and plans a murder.
 Macbeth is a bit hesitant about carrying on
an assassination because Duncan has just
promoted him and complimented him.
 Macbeth leaves the details to Lady Macbeth.
Scene 6:
 Lady Macbeth welcomes King Duncan to the castle.
 Duncan praises Inverness Castle for a pleasant atmosphere.
Scene 7:
 In private, Lady Macbeth tries to persuade Macbeth into killing King
Duncan.
 Macbeth feels hesitant and doesn’t want to kill Duncan because he was
just promoted.
 Lady Macbeth pushes him to continue with the assassination and he
agrees to do it in the end.
Scene 1:
 Macbeth and Banquo talk with each other about the Witches’ prediction.
 Banquo is too honest to behave dishonourably to achieve his prophecy.
 Macbeth is hallucinating about the murder he is about to commit.
Scene 2:
 Lady Macbeth drugs Duncan’s guards and signals Macbeth to go in.
 Macbeth slips into the room and stabs the King.
 He feels guilty about killing Duncan and
returns to his room with the dagger still in
his hand.
 Lady Macbeth scolds him for coming back
with the dagger which is evidence.
 She returns the dagger to Duncan’s room
and frames guards with dagger.
 They wash off all the evidence from their
hands and then falls asleep.
Scene 3:
 Macduff and Lenox enters the castle.
 Macduff goes into the Duncan’s room finds the king dead.
 The report that there was a murder spreads and panic is everywhere.
 Macbeth, Lady Macbeth, the King’s sons (Donaldbain and Malcolm), and
Macduff meet up with each other.
 As though in anger, Macbeth kills the guards and Lady Macbeth pretends
to faint.
 The two Princes run away in fear that they will be the next assassination
victims
Scene 4:
 Macduff announces that Donaldbain
and Malcolm are accused of the murder.
 Macbeth is crowned king.
Scene 1:
 Banquo suspects that Macbeth has killed
Duncan.
 Banquo and his son, Fleance, go horseback
riding before the state dinner.
 Macbeth does not want Banquo’s prophecy
to come true so he talks with the assassins
to plan a murder of Banquo and Fleance while
they are out.
 Macbeth persuades the assassins by blaming
Banquo for Scotland’s problems and they agree.
Scene 2:
 Macbeth talks with his wife about the current situation.
 Lady Macbeth tells Macbeth to calm down because he is very stressed out.
 Macbeth is worried and wants Banquo and Fleance dead first before he can relax.
Scene 3:
 A third member decides to join in on the murder.
 After they ambushed Banquo, they murder him.
 However, Fleance manages to run off.
 The assassins return to the castle to report to the
king (Macbeth).
Scene 4:
 Assassins come back and report to Macbeth that
the mission is only half accomplished.
 Macbeth hallucinates that Banquo’s ghost is
sitting on his throne.
 Guests are startled by Macbeth’s outbreak, but
Lady Macbeth calms the crowd by saying that it is
a reoccurring issue.
 Banquet ends after Macbeth’s second out break
and Lady Macbeth dismisses everyone.
 Macbeth wants to know more about the
witches, but his wife tells him to sleep
Scene 5:
 Hecate is disappointed with the
witches because they were not
supposed to tell Macbeth about his
prophecy.
 They plan to cast a bad spell on him
that will lead him to his doom.
Scene 6:
 Lennox talks to another noble about
Macbeth and the murder of Duncan.
 They seem like they are talking highly of Macbeth, but they are actually
talking bad about him.
 They talk about how Macbeth is a tyrant and that the English will revolt
against him.

Macbeth
