3. WHICH SPECIFIC PRODUCTION TASKS
HAVE YOU ENJOYED MOST THIS YEAR?
The project task I enjoyed the most was recording the footage for my music video.
Although the planning and production of the video was very uninteresting, recording
the footage with my mates outside of college at night was pretty fun.
Learning different effects in Premiere Pro was also interesting, such as using
different transitions and editing the colour schemes in each shot I used.
4. WHAT CHALLENGES HAVE YOU FACED
THIS YEAR IN YOUR PRACTICAL WORK?
The biggest challenge I have faced throughout this course is time management and
finding the motivation in general. Iâve struggled finishing my work before
deadlines and forcing myself to keep up with the rest of the class.
The hardest project to complete was the adventure one since there were two separate
parts which felt like their own projects. However, the board also cut a week of
time to complete the work, so it wasnât all on me.
5. WHICH PROCESS DO YOU THINK YOU
HAVE MADE THE MOST DEVELOPMENT
IN?
I feel I made a lot of development in both researching pre-existing products as
well as planning my projects ahead. I have started to find other related product â
both print and digital media, to learn about the techniques used for inspiration in
my own project.
6. WHICH TECHNICAL SKILL DO YOU THINK
IS YOUR STRONGEST?
My strongest technical skill in creative media is graphics design and video
editing. I have practised both since I was given a laptop on my 10th birthday using
Windows Movie Maker and GIMP/Paint.net before finally buying an Adobe Creative
Suite license throughout lockdown, so editing comes as second nature for me at this
point.
A task on this course which shows my strength in graphics design is the first half
of the adventure project with my movie poster art. Although it could have been
improved on in some areas, I feel what I made was impressive given how limiting the
power and resources the college computers have.
7. WHAT DO YOU THINK HAS BEEN YOUR
BEST PROJECT AND WHY?
For me, the best project during the course in terms of the work itself was the
first part of the adventure one. My strongest skill in creative media is graphics
design (specifically Photoshop), so planning and designing the poster art was a lot
easier than anything else I have done here since we started.
That being said, I enjoyed the recording of the music video project since I got to
film around Leeds and York with my mates (even if only one of them wanted to be in
it).
8. WHICH PROJECT DID YOU ENJOY LEAST
AND WHY?
The second half of my adventure project was arguably the worst assignment I have
completed throughout the course. I tried getting into the pixel art and using the
timeline mode on Photoshop effectively, but it was more draining than anything else
I have done at college in the last 6 months.
I feel other people on the course might have enjoyed it and we arenât just here to
do what we want anyway, but it doesnât change how dry this task was to complete.
9. HOW HAVE YOU MANAGED YOUR TIME
EFFECTIVELY THIS YEAR?
This year, I have managed my time effectively by planning everything I need to
complete through my time spent at both college and home. I have also learned I find
it easier to complete a basic amount of work for every task before coming back to
everything opposed to wasting too much time on one specific task.
11. WHAT ROLES/SPECIALISM DO YOU SEE
YOURSELF WORKING IN ON FUTURE
PROJECTS?
My strongest points in creative media are graphic designing and video editing. Iâve
been practising these for almost a decade and Iâm only improving everytime I use
them both in my projects.
12. WHAT DO YOU SEE YOURSELF DOING AT
THE END OF THE COURSE NEXT YEAR?
If I continue this media course throughout next year, I am planning on reaching at
least a merit and pursuing in a career in whatever I feel like doing for the time
being. I canât see myself pursuing a career in media (at least for the rest of my
life), but Iâll have enough time to figure everything out by them.
13. WHAT RESEARCH DO YOU NEED TO DO IN
ORDER TO EXPLORE YOUR FUTURE
PROGRESSION OPTIONS?
Although there isnât anything specific or written in stone for my future career
path right now, there are two fields I would like to pursue â music production (the
option I like the most) and media production (the easiest & safest option).
Notas do Editor
Consider 2-3 specific practical parts of your work this year [e.g. filming or editing, etc] and discuss why these have been your favoured parts of the course so far
Think about the work that has been most challenging this year [try and be specific when talking about tasks] and how you responded to it?
A process would be research or planning or time management, it could be a combination. Talk about what it is, how you feel youâve developed and where this was most evident in the year
This is a technical skill like filming, editing, photo manipulation, designing adverts or using Photoshop â think of an example that shows your strength
This is looking at how you see yourself specialising as we move into the FMP and into Year 2
