GFIMS: Organizational Objects – Company Code
Company Code:
A Company Code is the smallest organizational unit of
Financial Accounting for which a complete self-
contained set of accounts can be drawn up for
purposes of external reporting.
This includes recording of all relevant transactions and
generating all supporting documents required for
financial statements.

GFIMS: Organizational Objects – Purchasing Organization
Purchasing Organization:
A Purchasing Organization is an organizational unit in
Logistics, subdividing an enterprise according to the
requirements of Purchasing.
A purchasing organization procures materials and
services, negotiates conditions of purchase with
vendors, and is responsible for such transactions.
The form of procurement is specified by assigning
purchasing organizations to company codes and
plants.

Possible forms are:
• Enterprise-wide (Global Purchasing Org.): One purchasing
organization procures for all the company codes of a client –
that is, for all companies belonging to a corporate group
• Region-specific (Regional Purchasing Org.): One purchasing
organization procures for all the company codes within a
region.
• Company-specific: One purchasing organization procures for
one company code
• Plant-specific: One purchasing organization procures for one
plant

GFIMS: Purchasing Organization ‘As-Is’
For GFIMS a mixed model is used with a Global Purchasing
Organization, Regional Purchasing Organizations and Purchasing
Organizations at a company code level.
The naming convention identified for GFIMS will be as follows:
GIMP - Global purchasing Organization (Global Indirect Material purchasing organization)
X000 - Regional purchasing organization, where the first position = N for North America, E
for Europe, L for Latin America, and A for Asia Pacific.
XXYY – This naming convention will be used for the company specific purchasing
organizations where XX is equivalent to the country or geographical alpha designation (i.e.
NA for North America). YY represents the next available sequential number beginning with
01 and ending with 99. Use the (xxyy) where xx = next available sequential number value
for the IM procurement organization.

In SAP Logistics a plant is an organizational unit for
dividing an enterprise according to production,
procurement, maintenance, and materials planning.
It is a place where materials are produced, or goods
and services are provided.
All Plants will be identified and created accordingly as
part of the deployment process

GFIMS – Organization Units – Plant – ‘As-Is’
The naming convention identified for GFIMS will be as
follows:
XX00 where XX is the 2 character country code and 00
represent a sequential numbers from 01-99.
For North American Plants an exception has been
defined where the sequencing will be U000. For this U
represents a constant value and 000 represents
sequential numbers from 001-999

GFIMS – Organization Units – Storage Location
A Storage Location is an organizational unit allowing
differentiation between the various stocks of a material
in a plant.
There can be multiple storage locations within a plant.
The Storage Locations per Plant will be identified and
created as part of the deployment.

0100 – Receiving location
0200 – Main storage area
0300 – Point of use/satellite locations
0400 – Hazardous material storage area
0500 – Repair materials storage
0600 – Offsite storage locations
0900 – Surplus/obsolete storage locations
