The International College of KMUTNB was established as part of the KMUTNB’s
international strategy under the 11th
Higher Education Development Plan (2012-2016) as a
response to the ever changing global business environment marked by the growth of borderless
trade, technology, and the shift in capital investment flow. It’s also the university’s vision to
response to the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), the regional cooperation among ASEAN
nations, which will soon be implemented in 2015.
Our major mission is to provide graduates with well-rounded international skills and
knowledge, who will be able to compete in both regional and global economics. Our business
administration program: B.B.A. International Trades and Business Logistics (International
Program) is designed to produce the next generation of business professionals equipped with
knowledge and understanding of the ever-changing international business environment.
The International College also promoted the collaboration with overseas higher education
institutions for advancement of international trade and business research. Students are encouraged
to think innovatively and develop their entrepreneurial skills under guidance of qualified and

International College

The Sirindhorn International Thai-German Graduate School of Engineering
(TGGS) is a partnership established with strong support from the Thai and German
government for engineering education, technology, innovation, and business
development in Thailand and South-East Asia. Its industry-oriented engineering
master and doctorate education concept combines teaching and research based
on the successful model of RWTH-Aachen University, Germany, one of Europe’s
leading technical universities.
Resides in KMTUNB campus in Bangkok, TGGS provides engineering education
in four major disciplines which are Chemical and Process Engineering (CPE),
Mechanical and Automotive Engineering (MAE), Material and Production Engineering
(MPE) and Electrical and Information Engineering (EIE). All programs are being

KMUTT along with University in Singapore makes it to the
list of 400 top universities in the world.
According to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings,
KMUTT has successfully retained its position in the list of 400 top universities
in the world. KMUTT, along with two other universities of Singapore are
the only 3 ASEAN universities to find their place in the rankings.
On 1st
of October, the World University Rankings 2014-15, released
by the Times Higher Education (THE) based on the data provided by
Thomson Reuters, one of the leading publications in United Kingdom,
had KMUTT listed in the top 400 best universities in the world. It’s worth
mentioning that KMUTT is the only Thai university to secure this position
for 3 years consecutively.
At present KMUTT has been ranked 376th
best university in the world.
There are only 3 ASEAN universities within this ranking which includes
National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore, at 25th
and Nanyang
TechnologicalUniversity(NTU),Singapore,at61st
alongwithKingMongkut’s
University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), Thailand, at 376th
position.
KMUTT has been ranked as the only one research oriented university in
Thailand. This year KMUTT has performed well in the scores for teaching with a score
of 16.7 (previously 13.0) owing to the increase in the ratio of admissions, especially of
the doctoral degree students and also the increase in lecturer student ratio. Moreover,
the score of teaching reputation is also better than that it was in the last year. The
scores helped KMUTT to be the only one university in Thailand to make it in the top
400 universities in the world now for 3 times in succession.

In spite of the controversies relating to the university rankings,
KMUTT has been ranked prestigiously by all the educational ranking
organizations in all aspects in the same year. Apart from the Times
Higher Education ranking, KMUTT has been ranked 2nd
as the green
university by UI Green Metric Ranking 2013, 8th
as the best research
institute in Thailand by Scimago World Ranking 2014 (1st
in Normalize
Impact and 2nd
in Excellent Rate) and also the 1st
in civil engineering by
QS World Ranking by Subject 2013.
It needs to be mentioned that 700 universities all over the world
have been ranked with respect to five main key indicators such as teaching
(learning environment) 30%, research (quantity, income, well known
research work) 30%, citations (using research references as citations) 30%,
industrial income (new innovations) 2.5% and international outlook

The scores received by KMUTT for the 5 main key indicators are
16.7inteaching,10.0inresearch,75.0incitations,56.5inindustrialincome,
and 22.5 in international outlook. The strong point that makes KMUTT
stand out in the crowd is the quality of research.
It can be concluded from the rankings that the 13 sub-indicators
are pretty changing. KMUTT scores the highest, that is, 75% in normalization
citation impact indicator. KMUTT scores high in almost all fields of

As part of a series of lectures conducted by renowned individuals, the
International LL.B. Program in Business Law at the Faculty of Law, Thammasat
University welcomed another prominent speaker to its course, Introduction
to ASEAN, one of the many intensive classes taken by first-year students.
The speaker was none other than Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva himself, known by
all as the 27th
Prime Minister of Thailand. Holding other prestigious
positions that include the former chair of ASEAN, he brought his extensive
knowledge and first-hand experience to lead an inspiring discussion at a
venue full of young, lively, and curious law students on the topic of “ASEAN
as an Economic Challenge to Thailand.”
On March 19th
, Mr. Abhisit arrived at the Faculty of Law of Thammasat
University, where approximately 100 students were eagerly waiting to hear
his perspective on a regional bloc that is due to transform into a formally
established economic community in late 2015. Warmly welcomed with
beaming faces, Mr. Abhisit cheerfully remarked that he was delighted to
return to the Tha Prachan campus once again, as he recalled his earlier
years there as a full-time lecturer.
Mr. Abhisit surveyed the room and proceeded to test us on the year that marked the creation of ASEAN. The
answer, ‘1967’, rang out loud and clear, marking the beginning of an undisputedly awe-inspiring lecture. He briefly provided a
comparative analysis of ASEAN in its prior state, as a bloc formed for security purposes, with ASEAN in its current form,
which has great significance from both economic and geopolitical perspectives. The ability to compete more effectively with
neighboringcountriesand,forthatmatter,thewiderworld,aswellaswieldgreaterbargainingpowerinmanyinternationalforums
are key benefits that Mr. Abhisit highlighted before turning his focus onto the challenges which ASEAN now faces.

countries, Thailand has a responsibility in building

familiarityandunderstandingofourfellowASEAN
member states and the people who live in them
isneedednowmorethanever.ASEAN,inMr.Abhisit’s
eyes, can only be as strong economically and
politically as it is united; this principle is reflected in
the European Union, which many regard as the
model for ASEAN integration as a whole.
In light of this statement, Mr. Abhisit delved deeper to explore
thechallengesmoreparticulartoThailand
itself.Oneoftheseincludestheshortage
of labor created by an aging society,
which calls for changes in the role of
foreign workers in Thailand’s economy
priortothecommencementoftheAEC.

As a research-led institution, Mahidol University is committed to developing innovative
solutions to many of today’s most important social, environmental and public health
challenges. Crucial to this approach is a focus on translational research - a process under
which research findings are taken to the development and pilot scale. The university is
also a supporter of public-private research partnerships.
For over 30 years, Mahidol University researchers have made important
discoveries on the mechanisms and management of global infectious
diseases (including Malaria, HIV, Dengue, Avian influenza, and other
zoonotic diseases). These include innovations in vaccine development and
drug resistance and the introduction of Phase III trials. Researchers also
pioneered the understanding of the molecular mechanisms of alpha and
beta thalassemia.
The university helped to introduce precision medicine, systems biology
protein crystallography and glycobiology in Thailand. In addition, research into

andrubbertechnologyhavebenefitedThailand’sagriculture,food-production
and export sectors. Meanwhile, researchers play an important role in the
protection of the environment, in particular ASEAN wetland management

These draw upon the university’s research strengths and expertise in

WHO Collaborating Centers
Mahidol University’s expertise in medical research has been recognized
by the United Nations’ World Health Organization (WHO). As a result, it is
home to seven designated WHO collaborating centers at various university
faculties and institutes. The Faculty of Public Health has been designated
as the Secretariat of the Network for WHO Collaborating Centers and
National Centers of Expertise in Thailand. These centers, not only help to
strengthen Thailand’s national health development, but also form part
of the WHO’s network of regional and international collaboration.

Higher education administration
The Office of the Higher Education Commission (OHEC) has the mandate to provide recommendations on policy,
strategies and development planning and devise higher education standards in response to socio-economic development
of the country and serving various needs of learners. OHEC has responsibility to promote and support higher education
development with respect to the degree-granting institutions’ academic freedom and excellence.
OHEC is directed by the Higher Education Commission. According to the Article 16 of the Ministry of Education
Regulatory Act, the Higher Education Commission has the authority to propose higher education policies, development
plans and standards in line with the national economic and social development plan and the national education plan.
In addition, its main responsibilities include supporting allocation of resources and monitoring and evaluation of higher
educationprovision;providingrecommendationsontheissuanceofhighereducationregulations,
criteria and announcements; and providing comments and recommendations to the Minister
of Education or the Council of Ministers.
Currently, OHEC oversees altogether 173 higher education institutions. In relation to
diversity of higher education system in Thailand, there are 80 public universities (65
autonomous universities and 15 universities) and 73 private higher education institutions
(42 universities, 10 institutions and 21 colleges) and 20 community colleges.
Higher education policies
The Second 15-Year Long Range Plan on Higher Education (2008-2022) was formulated
by OHEC with a view to providing recommendations on directions for development of higher education
with diversity and differences that are responsive to the country’s development.
The key theme of the Long Range Plan is an effort to eliminate persistent problems of the Thai
highereducationinordertosettherightdirectionsforhighereducationdevelopment,lessenduplication,
upgrade quality, and enhance efficiency.
To strengthen Thai higher education system, the Long Range Plan has set a major goal to be
achieved by classifying Thai higher Education institutions into 4 categories comprising of (1) research
and graduate universities, (2) specialized and comprehensive universities, (3) 4-year universities and liberal
arts colleges, and (4) community colleges.

A movement in higher Education in succession to the Second
15-Year Long Range Plan on Higher Education is the announcement
ofthe 11th
HigherEducation Development Plan (2012-2016)formulated as
a direction to strengthen Thai higher education. The targeted vision of
the plan is that higher education is the source of knowledge and
manpower development for sustainable development of the nation,
creates lifelong learning society in line with the 11th
National
Economic and Social Development Plan (2012 - 2016) on the basis of
the sufficiency economy philosophy, plays a greater role in the ASEAN
Community, and move towards the international standards.
The four strategies employed to drive Thai higher education
towards the targeted vision are as follows:

Educational standards and quality
assurance
OHEC has a significant mission to encourage full-fledged quality
assurance systems within all public and private higher education
institutions by providing policy guidelines, supporting for knowledge
sharingactivities,andimplementingrelatedinternationalprojects.The
external quality assurance (EQA) has been conducted by the Office
fortheNationalEducationStandardsandQualityAssessment(ONESQA)
while the internal quality assurance (IQA) has been prepared in the
form of self-study report by higher education institutions. OHEC has
launched the second phase of the quality assurance system in academic
year 2014, encouraging the universities to conduct quality assurance
at the level of program
of study, faculty, and
institution.

In order that Thai degrees are internationally recognized, OHEC
has intensively encouraged Thai higher education institutions to work

Thai qualifications framework
for higher education
The Thai Qualifications Framework for Higher Education was
initiated in 2003 to assist the implementation of education guidelines
set out in the National Education Act of 1999, ensure consistency in
both standards and award titles, and make clear the equivalence of
academic awards with those granted by higher education institutions
inotherpartsoftheworld.Theframeworkwillhelpprovideappropriate
points of comparisons in academic standards for institutions in their
planningandinternalqualityassuranceprocess,forevaluatorsinvolved
in external reviews, and for employers in understanding the skills and
capabilities of graduates they may employ.
The Thai Qualifications Framework for Higher Education and the
guideline in implementing the Thai Qualifications Framework for
Higher Education have been proclaimed in July 2009 to serve as

theirprogramsofstudyandtheteaching,
andenhancingthequalityofeducation
provision so as to produce quality
graduates,andforthepurposeofhigher
education qualifications recognition.
Undertheframework,itisrequired

setbyOHEC.Atleast5domainsoflearning
need to be fulfilled, i.e. knowledge,
intellectual skills, interpersonal skills

technology usage, and morality and ethics.
International education
•International programs in Thai higher education institutions
International programs are broadly delivered in a variety of
disciplines both at undergraduate and graduate levels including the
certificate programs by public and private higher education institutions.
Prominentvisitingprofessorsandscholarsfromwell-knowninternational
higher education institutions are invited to give lectures in order that
students get better global perspectives.
In2013,bothThaipublicandprivatehighereducationinstitutions
offered a total of 1,044 international programs using English as the
medium of instruction at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Foreign students in Thai higher education institutions
In 2013, the survey on international students in Thai higher
educationinstitutionsrevealedthat16,999foreignstudentsenrolledin
107Thaihighereducationinstitutions.Thetopfiveinstitutionshousing
the highest number of foreign students were Assumption University
(2,661 students), Mahidol University (1,186 students), Chulalongkorn
University (725 students), Kasem Bundit Univeristy (598 students), and
Bangkok University (567 students).
Academic year and enrollment
requirement
• Academic calendar
In preparation for ASEAN integration, the Ministry of Education
made an announcement in 2012 requesting Thai higher education
institutions to shift the beginning of semester to August in concurrent
with international academic calendar. Therefore, Thai academic year
comprises 2 sixteen-week semesters.
First semester : August - December
Second semester : January - May
• Undergraduate program requirements
Applicants for undergraduate programs must complete their
upper secondary education or equivalent to grade 12 in order to
apply for study at a bachelor’s degree in Thailand. In some cases, the
examination is required and followed by an interview, a physical
examination or an aptitude test which may differ from one institution
to another. Application forms can be obtained by sending requests
directly to universities/institutions.
• Graduate program requirements
Applicants for graduate programs must have a bachelor’s degree or
equivalent.Besidesofficiallyneededdocumentsaccompanyingapplication
forms, the applicants may be requested to take such additional graduate
examinationasGREorGMAT.Theprocessmayalsoincludeaninterview.

• Registration
Students usually enroll in at least 9 credit hours but no more than
22 credit hours per semester for undergraduate programs. Graduate
studentsarerequiredtotakebetween9to15creditshours.Theprocess
of registration must be completed before the class starts. Candidates
for the bachelor’s degree must complete the minimum of 120-150
credits. The grade point average must be maintained at least 2.00 or better
on the scale of four points in order to achieve the degree. Candidates
for master’s degree must complete minimum of 36 credits with the
grade point average at least 3.00 on the scale of 4 points. The doctoral
degree program requires candidates with a bachelor’s degree to
complete the minimum of 72 credits hour while master’s degree
holders must complete the program with a minimum of 48 credits.
• Grading and examination
Thai higher education uses a letter grading system in both
undergraduateandgraduateprograms.However,othergradingmethods
can be employed such as points or percentage depending on individual
instructors throughout the courses. Those grading systems are
converted as grade points as follows:
Two or more tests including mid-term and final examinations are
given during the examination schedule each semester. Students must
obtain at least a cumulative grade point average of not less than 2.00 for
abachelor’sdegreecompletion,and3.00formaster’sanddoctoraldegrees.
Tuition and fees

Residence halls allow students to live within the campus vicinity,
giving them opportunities to have interaction with one another and to
participate in various on-campus social activities. Accommodation is

AUN Student Exchange Programme
The Programme promotes the ASEAN student mobility of students at both undergraduate
and graduate level among AUN Member Universities by providing scholarships to students to
study at a AUN Member Universities for a period of a semester up to one academic year and
also the full degree programme.
Deliverables:
We offered 151 scholarships for AUN Member Universities within the network. In addition,
each year 130 scholarships are available for students under AUN ACTS Scheme, currently, 101
students are under the ASEAN Credits Transfer Systems (updated on June 2013)

Assumption University, or Au, is non-profit institution administered by the Brothers
of St. Gabriel, a worldwide Catholic religious order devoted to education and
philanthropic activities, founded in France in 1705 by St. Louis Marie De Montfort. The
Congregation has been operating educational institutions in Thailand for more than 100
years. There are 14 Gabrielite institutions in all, covering every level of study. Au is

Brief Introduction
Burapha University originated from Bangsaen Educational College which was

Burapha University has been consistently developed in terms of physical
environment, personnel, and administration. In order to do so, a number of new

established in 1996 and one year later Sakaeo Campus was established.
Today the university offers a wide variety of degrees in many disciplines of the arts,

Welcome Message
Christian University of Thailand was established in 1983 as “Christian College” of Nursing
under the quality monitoring of Commission on Higher Education, Ministry of Education in Thailand.
Christian College was initially located at Bradley Building in Bangkok Christian Hospital in Bangkok.
In 1996 after we have developed into a full-fledged university, we relocated onto our main campus
in Nakhon Pathom.
Christian university of Thailand offers Nursing Science Programs in all levels of higher education
including Bachelor of Nursing Science Program since 1984 and 3 Master of Nursing Science Programs
since 2001 and Doctoral of Philosophy Program in Nursing Management since 2004.
Presently, we offer various Bachelor’s degree programs in Health Sciences as Physical Therapy,
Biomedical Engineering and Innovation Food Technology and in other fields as Accountancy, Business
Administration, English and Multimedia and Animation. We are the first university in Thailand to
focus on professional practicum and cooperative courses in every degree program and we have
been the first full-fledged Information and Communication Technology (ICT) campus in Thailand
since 1996. We are one of the first to incorporate an English Proficiency requirement as exit
examination for all of our graduates. These initiatives are an integral part of what we prepare to
be a member of ASEAN and world community.

In 2004, we expanded to offer 4 Doctoral of Philosophy Programs. In 2005, we started
a major change in our emphasis. The decision was made to offer several programs using
English language as medium of instruction which are Bachelor of Arts in English for
Communication and the Master of Arts in Teaching English as a Second Language as well
as the Bachelor of Arts in Tourism Industry. In 2008, the Bachelor of Nursing Science
Program are also being offered using English as medium of instruction. Simultaneously,
Christian University of Thailand has expanded its network of relationships with Higher
Education Institutions overseas. Presently, Christian University of Thailand has memoranda
of understanding and agreement with 50 universities and colleges in USA, Europe, Asia and
Australia for the purpose of engaging with an expanding programs of student exchanges
and faculty development.
Gradually, we are growing, therefore since 2006, we opened an External Education Facility
called “CTU Siam Complex Educational Center” in the commercial area of Bangkok which is
enabling us to develop and expand graduate programs and several training programs within
easy travel distance for professionals in the capital of Thailand including programs as MBA in
Logistics Management and Supply Chain and Ph.D. in Hospital Management, Nursing
Management, Public and Private Management and Educational Administration.
In 2008, Bangkok Institute of Theology, located on Sukhumvit 101 Road, was established
as a new college and approved to offer Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in Theology.
Year 2013 marks the 30th anniversary of our establishment and the accomplishment of
continuous Development through the passed three decades. We are now ready to progress
to the beginning of the fourth decade. We have committed to being a teaching university
emphasizing on research and academic services based on knowledge, creativity and Thai local
wisdom. Every program offered is to be responsive to the needs of community and society
in order to bring a bright future to our graduates and to our country and ASEAN.

Chulalongkorn University
Brief Introduction
Chulalongkorn University, the oldest and one of the most prestigious universities in
Thailand, was founded in its present form in 1917 by King Vajiravudh (Rama VI). It was named
after his father, King Chulalongkorn (Rama V), who laid the foundations for modern education
in Thailand. In keeping with the shared vision of both kings, Chulalongkorn University has
maintained its reputation for academic excellence ever since, and has been instrumental in
national development.
Chulalongkorn University, known familiarly as “Chula”, extends over a 456-acre tract
of land. It has grown constantly in the near-century since its founding, and today is a

ISE stands for the International School of Engineering. The school was
established in 2000 so as to support all International Programs of Faculty
