• We assume a frame rate of 50 or 59.94 Hz or higher
– A lower FR would not make sense, especially for Live sports
– It means overall 8 times more pixels per second than in 1080i HDTV
• Pixel format: 4:2:2 10-bit ideally
– 4:2:2 ease support of legacy content and improves text and CGI
– The benefit of 4:4:4 and 12-bit+ is modest for broadcast
applications
• We target up to 7.1 Audio
– It is already standardized by Digital Cinema
– It is the best audio rendering system that we can expect to be
available and practical to install in the home in the next 2 years

quadrant has been encoded a first time in high bitrate MPEG-2 or 4
– 1st transcoding pass degrades Video Quality
• Others solutions are built from 4 independent 1080p60 encoders,
each using 25% of the bandwidth
– ATEME’s bitrate regulation on the entire picture allows better Video
Quality and bandwidth efficiency
– Some competitors can’t go lower than 35Mbps
• Others solutions do not leverage the same of set feature for TV on
any screen from mobile up to premium UHDp60
