2. • Metagenomics research is a vast field which
studies about the genetic system of the
• environmental samples. Binning is a
bioinformatics tool. Binning tool helps to
analyses the
• genomic analysis of the environmental
samples.

3. • Metagenomic research can therefore infer
• medically or industrially important
• knowledge by revealing undescribed genes
• responsible for antibiotic resistance or
• enzyme synthesis.

4. • The result of the binning procedure
• can then be utilized not just for ordered
• differences evaluation, but also for
• facilitation of genome assembly,
• evaluation of gene association with
• different taxonomic groups or as the basis
• for following meta transcriptomics or
• metabolomics analyses leading to
• revelation of novel interactions.

5. • On synthetic datasets MetaBAT
• on average achieves 98% precision and
• 90% recall at the strain level with 281 near
• complete unique genomes. Applying
• MetaBAT to a human gut microbiome data
• set recovered 176 genome bins with 90%
• precision and 78% recall.

6. • This enormous diversity
• represents an immense challenge to
• metagenomics, due to low coverage
• obtained for individual populations,
• uneven sampling of microbes, and the
• large amount of sequence data acquired,
• often in short DNA fragments (~100 to
• 150 bp). It has been estimated that terabase
• pairs (Tbp) of sequence data would
• be required to adequately sample a single
• gram of soil if using current metagenomic
• sequencing and assembly platforms

7. • Metagenomic Binning Based on
• Clustering
• Binning environmental shotgun reads is
• pivotal to metagenomic studies. In a
• metagenomics project, genome sequences
• of different species from an environmental
• sample are randomly cut into short DNA
• fragments and then sequenced. The
• sequenced DNA fragments are often called
• reads, and the mixed reads from different
• species in an environment are thus
• designated as environmental shotgun reads
