1. Scott
Picken
–
Founder
&
CEO
of
Wealth

Global
Real
Estate
Crowdfunder
and
Africa’s
leading
Global
Investor
Author,
recognized
authority
on
the
intersection
FinTech
and
International
Real
Estate
Investment
Scott
has
an
undergrad
B.Sc.
and
Master
degree
in
construction,
property
and
IT,
which
is
where
the
blend
of
Real
Estate
and
technology
originated.
Scott
did
his
first
real
estate
project
at
13,
adding
an
extra
bedroom
and
on-‐suite
bathroom
to
the
family
home
(so
he
didn’t
have
to
share
with
his
brother)
and
built
his
own
accommodation
at
university.
At
the
age
of
twenty-‐one
Scott
left
South
Africa
for
the
UK.
He
had
done
well
at
the
University
of
Cape
Town
(UCT),
South
Africa
(B.Sc.
Construction
Economics
(Cum
Laude).
He
did
a
full-‐time
master’s
program
at
Greenwich
University
in
London
(M.Sc
Construction
IT
(Cum
Laude)
whilst
having
a
full
time
job
working
for
a
mid-‐sized
Irish
developer
in
London.
At
the
age
of
twenty-‐two,
Scott
and
a
friend,
Warren
Pearce,
bought
their
first
Real
Estate
back
in
South
Africa.
It
was
in
Cape
Town
near
UCT,
and
was
a
5
bedroom
house
with
great
zoning,
and
it
was
his
first
real
experience
of
buying
international
Real
Estate,
buying
real
estate
in
South
Africa
from
London
–
he
soon
realized
to
be
a
nightmare!
Ultimately
they
developed
it
into
6
townhouses,
and
this
was
the
first
time
they
learnt
the
importance
of
working
with
local
partners.
At
age
twenty-‐four
Scott
and
his
friend
bought
their
first
Real
Estate
in
London
and
by
the
age
of
twenty-‐six,
he
realized
that
international
Real
Estate
was
his
passion,
and
so
he
resigned
from
his
job
and
created
International
Property
Solutions
(IPS)
to
help
others
invest
internationally
as
well.
The
philosophy
of
the
company
was
based
on
Zig
Ziglar,
“You
can
have
anything
you
want
in
life
if
you
help
enough
other
people
get
what
they
want.”
The
vision
setout
in
2004
was
to
be,
“A
Global
Property
Investment
Solution
Provider,
who
will
revolutionise
and
set
the
industry
benchmark
by
2015,
through
cutting
edge
technology
and
driven,
dynamic
personnel.”
The
mission
which
was
based
on
Scott’s
dissertation
synopsis
from
1998
was,
"to
take
an
old
industry,
steeped
in
tradition
and
run
by
many
smaller,
disparate
and
often
inefficient
operators,
and
to
redefine
it
through
the
use
of
web
technology
to
increase
global
reach,
partnerships
&
efficiencies
of
scale,
so
as
to
provide
a
‘one
stop’
enhanced
and
personalised
service
to
our
clients!"
In
2003
Scott
attended
PDP
(Property
Development
Program)
the
leading
Real
Estate
2. development
program
run
by
the
UCT
Graduate
School
of
Business
in
South
Africa.
He
was
the
youngest
to
qualify
from
the
course
by
nearly
20
years.
In
2007,
IPS
was
the
first
South
African
company
to
be
invited
onto
the
AIPP
(Association
of
International
Property
Panel).
The
AIPP
is
run
out
of
London
and
is
the
governing
body
for
International
Real
Estate,
and
IPS
is
proud
to
say
that
they
continue
to
be
members
and
abide
by
the
code
of
conduct.
IPS
won
the
award
for
best
Real
Estate
company
in
Africa
in
2008
and
holds
the
records
for
most
South
African
sales
in
the
UK,
most
UK,
Australian
and
USA
sales
in
South
Africa
and
their
daily
record
is
86
investments
in
one
day!
On
top
of
this,
in
2012
Scott
qualified
for
CRS
(which
stands
for
Certified
Residential
Specialist)
and
is
the
highest
residential
Real
Estate
qualification
worldwide,
based
out
of
the
USA.
With
the
Global
Financial
Crisis
in
2008,
Scott
realized
a
huge
opportunity
to
take
advantage
of
the
people
coming
together
and
using
their
buying
power
to
invest
in
real
estate
globally.
He
and
Hennie
Bezuidenhoudt
founded
Wealth
Migrate
to
assist
investors
invest
together
in
sophisticated
international
real
estate
globally
and
based
it
on
a
blend
of
natures
laws
and
technology.
Over
the
years
IPS
and
Wealth
Migrate
has
helped
over
10
000
people
invest
internationally
to
a
value
of
over
$1.34
billion
on
5
continents.
Over
this
tremendous
learning
curve,
Scott
received
the
value
of
experience
in
international
Real
Estate
learning
all
about
global
trends,
how
to
take
advantage
of
globalization
and
most
importantly
how
to
avoid
mistakes.
In
2014
Scott
launched
his
book,
Property
Going
Global,
which
was
written
in
association
with
Clem
Sunter,
the
global
leader
in
scenario
planning
and
one
of
the
most
respected
businessmen
in
South
Africa
and
globally.
The
book
is
widely
recognized
as
the
authority
on
International
Real
Estate
Investment
and
how
to
create
global
wealth
safely
and
invest
with
confidence
in
a

In
2014,
with
the
global
expansion,
Scott
spearheaded
the
growth
and
setup
the
Global
Wealth
Group
out
of
the
Netherlands
to
be
the
holding
company
for
the
various
5. international
real
estate
companies.
In
2015,
Wealth
Migrate
was
recognised
officially
by
the
MassSolution
(the
Industry
Authority)
in
their
Real
Estate
Crowdfunding
Report
2015
as
the
10
biggest
real
estate
crowdfunding
site
globally
and
most
importantly
the
only
one
in
multiple
markets.
In
2015
he
was
invited
as
a
member
to
International
Crowdfinance
Leadership
Council
(ICLC).
He
is
also
one
of
the
founding
members
of
the
African
Crowdfunding
Association
(AfCA
–
www.africancrowd.com),
Africa's
only
crowdfunding
association
which
is
moving
Africa
forward.
Scott
is
lucky
to
be
living
his
passion
and
purpose.
He
is
one
of
the
leaders,
driving
the
Wealth
Movement,
whose
mission
is
to
empower
a
billion
people
with
the
wealth
effect
of
real
estate
by
2020.
Scott
says,
“Through
real
estate
crowdfunding,
this
is
not
only
possible,
but
it
is
our
responsibility
as
it
provides
us
with
the
opportunity
to
solve
the
planets
greatest
challenge.”
At
the
World
Economic
Forum,
Davos,
Switzerland,
it
was
agreed
that
the
Wealth
Gap
is
the
greatest
challenge
facing
the
sustainability
of
the
planet.
85
of
the
wealthiest
people
on
the
planet
have
the
same
wealth
as
the
bottom
3.5
billion.
49%
of
the
world’s
wealth
is
held
in
real
estate
and
for
as
long
as
man
has
accumulated
wealth,
land
and
real
estate
have
been
the
number
one
vehicle
of
growing
and
preserving
wealth.
However
out
of
7
billion
people,
only
12,9%
of
people
have
access
to
real
estate.
It
greatest
barrier
to
entry
is
experience,
geography
and
the
funding
gap.
Scott
Picken
says,
“Our
mission
in
driving
the
Wealth
Movement,
is
to
at
least
double
this
to
25%
globally
by
2020
and
give
access
to
everyone
who
is
like-‐minded
and
understands
the
power
of
the
crowd
6. working
together,
just
like
in
nature.
As
when
birds
fly
in
a
flock,
versus
flying
on
their
own,
a
bird
in
a
flock
can
fly
70%
future
than
a
bird
on
their
own.”
This will ensure we create a better and more sustainable planet for all.
http://www.wealthmovement.com
Scott
is
so
passionate
about
this
he
was
invited
to
Necker
Island
to
spend
a
week
with
Richard
Branson
to
discuss
how
this
can
be
scaled
by
2020.
Finally
he
is
passionate
about
training
children
in
entrepreneurship,
as
believes
this
is
the
great
gift
he
can
give
back
to
Africa.
They
have
partnered
with
Lemonade
Day
in
USA,
which
is
endorsed
by
Google
for
Entrepreneurs,
and
to
teach
children
about
business
through
a
lemonade
stand
and
their
goal
is
for
every
child
in
USA
(250
000)
there
will
be
one
in
Africa
who
gets
the
same
training.
When
Scott
is
not
trying
to
revolutionise
the
real
estate
industry
and
solve
the
world’s
greatest
challenge,
he
loves
spending
time
with
his
wife,
Kelly
and
3½-‐year-‐old
son
Jonty.
He
loves
to
have
fun
and
certainly
works
hard
and
plays
hard.
He
enjoys
any
sport
which
involves
adrenaline
like
rugby,
hockey,
kite
surfing,
barefoot
water
skiing,
surfing
and
anything
with
action.
He
has
done
some
crazy
stuff
like
climb
Kilimanjaro
(highest
mountain
in
Africa)
and
run
the
longest
one
day
road
race
–
The
Comrades
Marathon
–
(89km
or
60+
miles)
three
times.
Just
to
name
a
few.
