Aids

2. Benefits of using visual aids.
They help in illustrating and
reinforcing the spoken message so
that the audience can imbibe it.
They provide a change of pace and
thus break the monotony of speech.
Charts, figures and models cut down
explanation time considerably. They
also help understanding how situations
have changed over time.
A photograph or a cine-film shot adds
a sense of realism to the presentation,
thus making it much more interesting.
3. Contd..
Visual aids are excellent instruments for
relating theory to practice and thus
promoting learning. A participant
understands what a furnace looks like in
real life when shown a clipping.
Remember visual aids are not a
replacement of training but assistance to
the trainer to communicate his/her
message to the audience such that
retention is facilitated. They are not
window dressing but should be
legitimately used.
4. Some examples of visual aids
used in training

Cine Projector
DVD and Audio Visual Projector
Television
Computers and LCD Projector
Tape Recorders
5. How to use audio visual aids
Never experiment with an aid at the
expense of the audience.
Speak to the participants not to the
aid.
Be familiar with the audience seating
and voice travel.
Test run the gadget to avoid glitches.
Make sure that the message displayed
is brief ,visible and legible.
Ensure that infrastructure support is
available(electricity, screen).
6. Contd..
Use the aid selectively and at the
proper time.
The aid is not the presentation of
the message but a help to it.
Switch of the aid when not in use.
